We already know Trump didn't pay a lot of taxes for over 10 years. So I wonder what they found.

Interesting. Someone is leaking his returns.

This could mean that the two pages of 1040 documents we got were trivial throw-aways, to see if they'd actually get to the right people, the right audience. It's very possible that this is the beginning of a huge leak. 

A big note here guys is that Trump had to pay a good 20% extra on his 2005 taxes, and his later tax years obviously, because of a tax law that sets minimums. During the campaign, he railed against it, calling the code itself a loophole. This return actually counters that position, noting that he'd only have had to pay 3-4% in 2005 on his 100 Million in income without this tax code. He's using the office of the presidency to directly influence his pockets.

Some may find this a let down, but this is a drip drip, and soon enough, the flood gates will burst.

That's the other way I'm looking at this. The guy on Rachel Maddow hinted that Trump might have leaked this info to show that he did pay taxes. BUT, like you said, there's much more to this than paying taxes.

And you make a good point. If the leaker was able to get this, then what else do they have? This part of Trump's tax return only makes Trump look good because it shows that he paid taxes. And any average person won't look past that, sadly. But there has to be something going on...

Letdown and bad move. They are trivializing the issue of Trump's taxes. Not as big of a deal as they made it out to be and the public will take note of all of these failed attacks as desperation.

Exactly, it's very possible that Trump or a Trump associate leaked these, but that begins to beg even more questions. Specifically, why do it anonymously? He'd gain much more from releasing them himself, a move that would surely woo his base, as well as moderate republicans, and also be able to seemingly lose this cloud of smoke around why he isn't releasing any. It just makes no sense that he'd do it himself, he'd much more likely parade them around before letting someone else touch them.

Mainly because most people don't understand anything past "Trump didn't pay taxes" or "Trump paid his taxes". I mean, you are right in a way. He didn't really pay taxes for years due to his business and no one cared about that. But it's what is happening behind the scenes that is so odd. And the very fact that he won't release his tax returns. It's not a hard thing to do...

If I were to lay out every spec of Trump and his admin in connection to Russia, lies, etc, etc, we'd be here for years just laying out the info. And that's why he won't get in trouble unless someone finally leaks everything to put it out there once and for all. They're "failed" attacks because people choose to not look at the entire picture. It's like starting a 100,000 piece puzzle and stopping because you don't know what the bigger picture looks like. THAT'S why Trump won't be taken down anytime soon.

That's exactly right. The public doesn't care about the details. All they want is "is he guilty or is he not guilty?" The more they drag out these stories, the more the public will get bored of the anti trump agenda.

It really just leads me to believe that the media is using this story as a sensation that will give them ratings. This is the equivalent to the election cycle horse race. All the while, people are literally shitting on their representatives over the repeal of Obamacare. Where's the 24/7 coverage on that? There is REAL outrage in America right now, yet themedia is not giving these people a voice or a platform. Their "town halls" are scripted pieces of garbage.
