Right, but we do get complaints from news media sites, you posted quite a few parts, and your post is still intact in the spoiler. Just a heads up to be mindful of copyrights.

All I listen to is streaming or the radio, but they need to adjust streaming's impact on the charts. People are hitting 1 billion streams on Spotify now, a couple years ago hitting 100 million streams was a big deal. Streaming has increased greatly, but the rules haven't changed

Do you feel younger people turn to streaming as an alternative to pirated downloads? Or do they download anyway? Maybe streaming and sales charts should be separated and only selected songs get recorded as streams for artists instead of adding in those generic, recycled playlists... on Spotify.

I think something needs to be done, it's not about Gaga, it's more than that.. let's take Slumber Party, it's really a good catchy song but it really failed and it's actually better than many songs in the top 10.. if it had the right support from Spotify this song would be at the top 10 easily..

Few things that they must do..

1. Only the streams of the actual single should count to the charts, the rest should count for an album but you must listen to it from track 1 to the last to count it as 1 album stream.

2. Playlist shouldn't count at all.. or to count it as half stream.

3. 150=1 is too low now so they must raise it.

Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass

I believe that the main chart should be the $$ chart. But the Hot 100 ranks popularity. How many times is being the song played. So as much as I hate the chart now, it's more representative to popularity.

I think younger people have turned to streaming now instead of illegally downloading and that's why streaming has taken off in such a massive way. Before streaming was so big, you either bought the song or illegally downloaded it. Now you can stream it easily for free on a major platform like Spotify or YouTube, buy the single, or if none of that works, then illegally download it. I think many have turned to streaming songs for free on Spotify instead of pirating.

True but the way it ranks popularity off streams is messed up, they need to adjust how many streams equal one sale and so on. Also sales, downloads, and radio should still be very powerful, especially in today's streaming-dominated world

It was a joke. The article is calling Little Monsters old, meanwhile, while Gaga does have elder fans since the beginning of her career, most of her fanbase that grew with her is millenials or teh generation right afterwards, so we're notreally that old and should be streaming just as much as any other fanbase.

What I'm talking about in the spoiler:

Spoiler

And you have artists of certain genres and ages who just can't get near the top end of the charts anymore. The reason? Because their core fanbase – while still pretty big – just don't stream anywhere as much as younger folk. That's why you'll see the likes of Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Olly Murs or Lady Gaga near the top of the downloads/sales chart, but hardly making a dent in the full chart with streaming. Maybe that'll change in time, but who knows?

It's not really that the core fanbase doesn't stream, it's just that most of the general population is not attracted to the music they release. Gaga has become a fanbase artist.  It's just that simple. While she still has some pull with the general populace, Gaga is probably going to be relying on her fanbase for  long time, honestly.

And I honestly don't think streaming is having any effect on illegal downloads. It's just that it's not that big of deal anymore, ya know? You can rip songs from literally any site. The moment something is taken down, three more pop back up in its place.

Not to mention it's easier to illegally download something and always have access to it. You can't stream anything if you have no data for the month or your internet is wonky.

And let's not even talk about living in a rural area. I have to go to the library to download anything. There is some backwater village in India that has broadband right now and I don't.

Just my two cents.

This can't be true because the article itself even says that Gaga still pulls impressive sales/downloads, but doesn't have the streaming presence. I think honestly that's thanks to herself/her label. She was a huge force on Spotify in 2008-2011 but hasn't kept up with major streaming hits afterwards to make herself a streaming force like other artists such as Taylor, Katy, Rihanna, Ariana, etc. have

yeah, I guess. Still, why was radio always so big on the charts? Because it reached millions. The Sales probably reach 10 if we supposed that the ones who are buying share the song with their family and friends :toofunny: and Streaming number are pretty accurate on how many times a song was listened. So if it's for mass popularity I guess sales fall behind. That's why there should be a $$ chart, so sales would be big there
