What I dont understand is, if streaming for sales is to compensate for lack of pure sales, why does it really even matter? Why dont we just accept that pure sales are going to be low but have it still be the only factor for chart positioning. Deflated numbers in sales goes across the board for all artists, so if sales are down, every artist with still sell the same in relation to one another by ratio, the total number will just be down. Seems redundant.

Younger fanbases shouldn't be the driving force of whether or not artists get accolades based on sale or merit (Grammy's, I see you).

But sales aren't low though. It's just that streaming is another format. Sales are still decent.

not really, sales ARE low, ew's "record-breaking" album sold almost as much as what ARTPOP sold in the first week in the US (pure sales that is) yet ARTPOP was called a flop while his is being praised.
