Hades 27,980
He has some good tracks like Dive and Galway Girl but many tracks are fillers. It's expected to not have a high score despite his success commercially wise.

djBuffoon 12,123
Let's keep in mind that there is no consensus with art. I say that because, although many of us love ARTPOP, Joanne, Blackout, and plenty of other albums, many got comparable scores to Divide. It's only opinions. StrawberryBlond 14,883
I'm at least glad to see that critics haven't been mindlessly fawning over him to the extent they usually do with anyone who gains success. Modern music criticism is fast becoming a joke, they just follow the herd, falling in with what the public are thinking and apply it to their review. It is rare to see any truly negative reviews for an artist who the public is making successful. Why would critics do that? They don't want to look like out-of-touch fools who by disagreeing. Ed's never been a critical darling despite his success. But he's a very big exception. A male artist who sticks to simple formulas is usually a shoo-in for high critical praise.
