ANTI's sales at the same time distance from its release, that Joanne is at now

So therefore, Gaga is just as big of an albums artist (sales wise) as Rihanna

Gaga has gardly promoted it like her previous records. By the end of the year people will be praising it. :queenga: And its a completely different sounds from the currently active sound in music.

It's truly not a flop. It's selling above average when compared to other albums, except obviously a handful of standout albums.

I think the era overall is actually more successful than ARTPOP, at least for her image,  because she doesn't have all that negative press surrounding her this time.

It's been nice to hear the GP compliment and recognize Gaga for her talent, which didn't happen during ARTPOP.

I don't think it's comparable tho. Gaga performed in the biggest event in America and tbh I don't see the album having much more longevity. I think it's gonna stop at 550k.

I think the way it performed is the new normal. She won't ever pull TF or even BTW numbers again, and we just need to accept that. Musically, Joanne is one of her best album tho, so if we keep getting good music I'm fine. Commercial success is just a bonus

I love all Gaga albums including Cheek to Cheek so don't get me wrong here.

Actually I think some of you are underestimating Gaga here. While I know how hard it is to replicated The Fame Monster/Born This Way numbers, however I do believe it is so very possible to do so much better than she did for Perfect Illusion and Joanne as a whole era. There were so many gaps which could be filled to result in better commercial performance for the era. Perfect Illusion could've been promoted so much more (on TV and at award shows, if Katy doesn't need to get nominated to perform at the Grammys and Brits and iHeartRadio, Gaga can too). Million Reasons had good promotion but the video could've arrived a little earlier with better visuals (I do adore the video, but apparently visuals help it chart better) and then more single releases.

So yeah, it might be hard to produce another Bad Romance, but an Applause megahit isn't at all impossible. We have seen how people are willing to purchase her songs (Million Reasons hitting top 5), on the sole condition that she has to promote it not only on radio but on TV.

It actually didn't under perform at all lmao. People were expecting it to sell way less than the 201K it did opening week. It's one of the most successful albums of 2016 and so far, one of the most successful of 2017.

This exactly!
