Still sunk about TayGa, and though the song doesn't really do as much for me as the others, I see the value in it. This needs to happen.

The best guess is usually the most obvious one. Gaga and Taylor lived apart and long distance relationships are difficult. They can work when you are dating, but when you want to get married and have kids, someone has to move. Probably neither one of them wanted to give up their career...and that's fine!

Break ups suck, but both are moving on...and that's also fine!

I've kind of thought of that song in a similar way to be honest... That it's about falling out of love and maybe finding someone else. That's why she's the 'little red devil' and is the only one who knows about this. I didn't want to believe the song was about her cheating on or leaving Taylor, but it just made more and more sense as time went on   especially after learning she left WME, joined CAA, and ended up dating Christian Carino.

I imagine her sitting down at a family dinner, maybe at her dad's restaurant, when she drops a truth bomb that's hard for everyone to accept, and sh.it goes down.

I always wondered what the 'mountain' was though. Is the mountain her apartment in NYC that she went to dinner from? Is it a work meeting? Did she meet up scandalously with Christian in some tall building in NYC somewhere? And she says she's dragging their love affair with her, has on a pretty little outfit, and is 'wearing' someone still. That's a common way of saying that you've been with someone intimately, and still feel the passion afterwards when in a normal situation, like you still feel them on you. 

It's also noteable that a 'tramp' is someone who wanders around looking for work (I guess like a gypsy...), but it is also another word for a 'slut' when applied to a woman.

She also says "I can carry you not not your ghosts. I wish I had the faith but... I don't know..."  it sounds like she's referring to Taylor saying that she can be there to support him, but not all of his baggage, which could be alcohol issues, commitment issues, compulsive cheating, or just something less serious... And that she wishes she could stay faithful to him, but she's losing her ability to do so.

Every line just paints a picture that she fell out of love with him. The part about her sister just sounds to me like she's relating her problems with men to her sister. Maybe the family had an argument at dinner when she confessed she might leave Taylor, sh.it went down, and afterwards her sister offered her support and related with Gaga about the men in their lives.

 

I guess we'll never know! This song was a hard one to crack. But I'm sure this is what it's about in some way!

P.S. I don't think it's as simple as "Gaga cheated on Taylor and they broke up omg she's a sinner"

I think it was more like: her and Taylor had some issues behind the scenes, had been growing apart for a while (which seemed to be true. A lot of people here noticed a bit of a disconnect between them a long time before they broke up), then she changed talent agencies, met Christian, was extremely conflicted by her feelings for him, ended up on a break with Taylor, became intimate with Christian while on a break, told her family over dinner, they got mad at her, she wrote the song in a confessional way, as her sinner's prayer (with her as the 'sinner' praying for forgiveness)

Love can get very complicated sometimes. Especially if a relationship is on the rocks and one person meets a third party who they start getting feelings for. I don't think Gaga is just a cheater with no heart going around breaking men.
