The audacity of someone to say PI was damaging while saying Judas was a hit. Alright.

I never said Judas was a hit, it was an underperformance.

Just wait and see, as streaming increases tremendously the BB charts will soon be 60-70% streaming, sales won't matter anymore. Gaga needed a streaming hit this era and she did not serve one, there goes any chance of her having a hit in the future if she does not release anything pop. The damage PI did with streaming may never be repaired.

MR.

Apart from that, probably lots of scrapped songs that didn't made the album

Basically. DIC is not the mega hit everyone thinks and AYOs chorus, while I think it should be a single, definitely uh.. Can hurt the ears after awhile.

MR is the only one that actually stands out as a radio hit.

God you're so dramatic. MR will probably hit like 100M AI and pass 1M sales (huge in 2016-2017), and here you are saying she's basically over. Like.. Relax

As "obvious" as MR is now as a hit, I can see why it wasn't the lead.. It doesn't really represent the album at all. For that reason I think it was probably only a choice between AYO and PI.

What damage? Her streaming has always been low in the recent years. I understand that if she wanted it she could had release a trendy song and have more streams, but I don't think PI damaged her streaming power. It didn't help, but it didn't hurt.

I am not, I am talking long term. Streaming is the future, if you do not evolve to fit the future, just like an old product, you won't be a hit anymore. If Gaga does not get her act together with pop music, she won't have hits in the future because streaming is everything. You can be top 5 on iTunes, top 25 on radio, but if you don't have streaming you will only be top 30 the charts (aka MR). Thankfully the SB saved that song.

Above LOTB that has literally double the airplay. MR has always had an amazing sales to radio ratio.

It didnt flop but underperformed compared to BTW and TEOG. But it did hit top 10 and was VEVO certified so it can not be classified as a flop.

I agree it didn't do bad a some as her recent stuff but for her at the time it did kind of flop every single she released before that in America was huge. It did hit top 10 but it just free fell after that and everyone forgot about it.  I feel like more Americans have heard or remeber dwuw than Judas tbh

And that's why the Hot 100 doesn't make a star. If that were the case Beyoncé would be irrelevant but she's one of the biggest stars.

When you're a decade in the game and a living icon, you don't need to worry about "trends". Gaga already set them for literally years.

This was her opportunity to fix her streaming audience, she could have released a pop song that would have been high on streaming and reverse her low audience which could have been done. Instead she released an indie rock song that damaged her even worse because if she released a pop dance song, it would have been a streaming hit and repair her album streams and monthly listeners by attracting new people.

Well, Judas (AKA the Bad Romance copy cat) was abandoned by radio for obvious reasons, if radio had played it would have been a Alejandro sized hit in the US

Judas was a religious, deep-metaphor hit, do you think people we're gonna digest that easily in a time when the biggest hits were empowerment and party songs?

G.U.Y. was catchier and easier to digest than Judas on all levels. The intro was cut for radios so that's not a problem, Zedd was trendy then, and the chorus was simple yet catchy. All my GP friends love it and pick it with Gypsy and DWUW as their ARTPOP faves. Catchy, trendy, simple, all makings of a hit, not to mention had Gaga been riding off the momentum of three successful previous singles how easy it would have been to make it a success.

The religious controversy is just a scapegoat used by Monsters to convince themselves the gp likes the song. The truth is, the gp doesn't want to listen to this loud screaming techno where Gaga practically shouts. GUY is not trendy, calling it that is laughable

Stop it :awkney:

If she releases a song thats good people will be streaming it anyways. Its not like lets say in 2020 people will be like "look a new gaga single! But wait PI was really bad released 4 years ago, better not listen to this new song"
