Sadly it flopped (wasn't running Android tho). People just don't want small screens, they want big phones and they want good keyboards. BlackBerry tried it too and imo were successful but the marketing team is complete trash and priced it way too high:

I remember the BB classic, awful phone  It just seemed awkward and clunky.

I think there's 100% a market for smaller screened phones with physical keyboards, it's just that Blackberry isn't quite pleasing that market. It needs to be a phone that is snappy, brings notifications like emails, messages etc. to the forefront of the experience and is reliable as hell. They were marketed as strictly business phones that could do a few fun things too... that's what Blackberry needs to return to if they want to regain popularity.

iPhones are awful work phones yet they've become hugely popular to give staff. Blackberry need to up their game and reclaim their spot.

Omg nostalgia  I always want to get a Blackberry whenever I'm due an upgrade but I'm too worried that I'll get over the nostalgia joy of the keyboard and start missing the iPhone  I've been due an upgrade for like a few months now so maybe it's time time to give Blackberry a shot again, or should I just wait until the new iPhone in September? DECISIONS

Not gonna happen. I also miss when BlackBerry was so huge. I am a huge supporter and I don't care for apps, been using the Passport since Oct '15 and going strong waiting on the KEYone to come out.

What you might not know is that BlackBerry is now no longer responsible for the phones they put out. They've licensed hardware to TCL and now anything BlackBerry-hardware related is under 'BlackBerry Mobile.' Dark times for us huge fans of BB. BlackBerry now only supplies the hardened OS and software updates and native apps. So to reply to your post, they will never return to their huge popularity back in 2006 - 2010. The people who birthed the Bold, Curve, and Torch series have resigned. The great minds are now gone.

Usually BlackBerry gives you a 30-day / 1 month trial for phones. So you could buy it directly from BlackBerry UK in April, try it for 30 days, and if you see that the nostalgia joy has worn out by then, you can easily just ship it back to them at no cost and you get your money back fully.

Altho, if you are somewhat a gamer I suggest you skip this phone at all cost.

That f*cking sucks, I did not know that  It's such a shame. My two favourite phones ever are the Blackberry 8900 and the iPhone 5S, I'm even debating swapping in my iPhone 7 to get an SE because I miss using a smaller phone.

I don't think it's until people try using a small phone again they realise "oh sh*t, this is so much more convenient in my day to day life"  Sure, you can't swallow media as easily but just being able to message people and use your phone in one hand is so much more important than being able to binge watch something on Netflix in bed with your phone

So, yeah $549 for the phone is very much justifiable. SD625 was disappointing but this is for enterprises who won't be playing video games on their phones.

1) Physical keyboard shouldn't affect the price, especially when the smaller screen and smaller resolution will cost less for the production

2) Yeah, the only R&D here.

3) Completely useless and only serve design

4) That's not the only Android phone able of lasting that long

5) I already pointed that. The only feature on that phone that should increase the price. Still ridiculous to put that on a midrange phone.

6) Nothing is unhackable. Not to mention that Google is doing his job perfectly.

7) BlackBerry hub isn't innovative enough to be considered a power feature. And talking about developpers they'll probably hate the fact that BlackBerry is fragmenting even more the screen ratios.

In conclusion, BlackBerry tried to make an hybrid between a midrange and high-end product who is too expensive for a midrange phone and too weak to be considered top of the range. That phone won't sold because competitors has better phones.

BlackBerry has been dead since they failed the smartphone reconversion in the beginning of the decade. Now my eyes are on Nokia to see if they can take a ride on Android.

this! i just don't see that keyboard being a step in the right direction. its still way too small even though it does have nice features for it. ppl complain about smartphone keyboards as it is & those blackberry buttons are WAY smaller than the leading brands..

I think it's a real case of pick one or the other; you can't have a big screen and a keyboard without making the phone unpleasant to use.
