Almost no one uses this app in the US. Only people I know who use it are old Hispanics I know because they communcate with people in Latin America where it's widely used :rip:

Here in France it's basically the same only old people use it to communicate with people who are mostly in Africa, Asia or South America.

Why is every app slowly turning into a Snapchat/Periscope hybrid? :saladga:

Because Mark Zukenburg doesnt own it, but he wants to. :sure:

WhatsApp is what iMessage and FB Messenger are in the US in the rest of the world :rip:

Everyone uses WhatsApp.

It's like MSN back in the day.

Yeah. Is it because of phone plans? Or?

Because here what I see is most people just use regular texting (SMS) and if they have iPhones just use iMessenger and then other apps like Facebook Messenger.

Because here literally all the plans are unlimited SMS so...

I hate it, they are driving me crazy. I was ok with Instagram having stories because well, it made sense and Snapchat wasn't working properly on my phone so it was a way to get rid of it, but what am I supposed to use now? :duck:

Also, it's so awkward... I don't want my grandma, family members, and all the random people that I have in my contact list to watch my stories. :rip:

WhatsApp is the most used messaging app in world with 1 bilion user ,it's really simple, quick ,secure and most of all isn't flamboyant at all like others ,

Its just simply what the majority wanted to use.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mean, BBS and AOL were everywhere and then they disappeared, MSN came and left, same with Skype and MySpace.

And obviously though carriers may do some promo for WhatsApp so it gains a bit more share, but that's just because they are the most popular.

I remember when Facebook was exploding that some carriers didn't count FB traffic in your data limit.

Currently WhatsApp and Facebook are super popular, but either through time or if a better product comes along, that gains traction, they will be replaced. And I feel that Facebook is currently slowing starting to fade away, but that may take a long while.

And the same thing may happen with things like Windows, if people like it less and less, they may look for alternatives, so Mac OS and Linux may gain a more share in the future as well.
