These songs on top playlists are of course heard by people who stream these playlists because they are just there. Pop music fans do not care what executives pay to put on these play lists, they just click play. There are songs with hundreds of millions of streams that have already been forgotten. Sales mean that people actually connect with music enough to purchase it. That's more meaningful. It's not like someone accidentally bought MR because it was on a playlist that they had playing. Gaga's radio deals don't detract from my statement. Radio deals are not impressive. Btw being played every hour wasn't impressive (but the word transgender being on the radio was, groundbreaking all-inclusive queen ).

The problem is sales are too few now to climg too much of a songs success to that. I myself dont buy singles anymore. That doesnt mean there isnt music that connects with me Also these play lists only so much. They are not gonna raise points so much to make charts innacurate. If ppl dont stream individual songs on their own, they wont stream that much regardless of a list What I hate about sales for charts is theres no way to know if someone stayed listening to that song for a week and got tired or stayed listening for 2 months... not to mention we cant tell how many times ppl listened to it Sure streaming has its cons in the sense that its hard to tell if ppl love a song or only moderately like it enough to hear it... But it is more accurate than sales in some aspects too. So i think ppl need to stop dismissing streaming on charts as a bad barometer especially since sales will only keep dropping and eventually its all we will have to measure music success
Ronnie 6,006
Why are we so worried about what charts higher? We miss out on enjoying really great pop music because of the love we have for Gaga getting in the way. I'm not a Stan for Katy but CTTR is a bop! I hated it at first and the main reason was just because it was Katy..... this fan base needs to get over themselves and enjoy the music! She's where she's at today because she puts out great pop records. Who cares if they are basic! They're catchy af! Her singles outshining Gaga's doesn't make Gaga any less of an iconic artist! Play on Little Monsters, it's time to grow up! Stop the drama Start the music
