Ridiculous outrage/uproar over Music Leaks (Regarding Lana)

I've seen on social media today, people (Lana stans) saying how "lana didn't deserve none of this" (in regards to her new single leaking).

Does anybody else think "get real"!?

Dont get me wrong, every artist (in any form) deserves respect etc. But we are in a digital age now, leaks happen on a daily basis. I've seen similar reactions when Gaga's music has leaked in the past, stuff like "this is so sad! poor gaga!".

Let's not also forget, these people have also downloaded the leaks and then decide whether the artist is hard done by or not.

We're in a world where people are dying of hunger and stuff, and people get uptight about a song leaking lol

The only two artists I have seen not angry about leaks was Nicki Minaj (ages ago) and Sia. Apparently Sia has said she doesn't care if people illegally download her music (no idea if true).

What's your views on songs/music leaking?

But that surely can be dealt with?

By her management or whoever it is.

They lazy.

It's wrong, even if it happens often doesn't make it okay. How would you feel if your art was leaked before you wanted to release it?

They should keep all her music in a computer without internet acces, just like Gaga

We all know Gaga's reaction when her music or videos leak lmao (talking about Applause and whatever was the video she was talking about when she tweeted "stop leaking my mother****ing videos")

If you're really worryed "once" the song has leaked and you see a lot of backlash for it , then you starts complaining about leakers because they didn't let you finish your "art" then Honey you're in it for the money, I know Gaga did it during ARTPOP and I didn't like it one bit. More after her slogan "music not the bling" (Not trying to drag my Queen)

come on

And fans complaining  about leaks after they already downloaded every single leak! !?Oh please!

I'm usually okay with things leaking unless it interferes directly on the planned schedule for the artist. Applause leaking before the era kickstart, making the start messy or the Madonna album leaking like 6 months before the release. I will listen to it anyways but it's just a pain in the ass for the artist because it ****s up their entire release plan.

That makes no sense. Imagine you write a draft of an essay and then re-do it because you weren't confident in it, but somebody else is submitting the draft you were insecure about behind your back with your name attached to it. That would be awful and panic attack inducing. :duck:

There's nothing about money involved in this, it's just artists having their sh*t made public before they are actually done.

Of course it would be annoying if you were an artist. Imagine having your release properly planned out and envisioned releasing it in your way only to wake up one day and see that all those plans have essentially gone down the toilet. Yes it's a sad reality of the digital age, but that doesn't mean it's fair/okay and people definitely have the right to feel a certain way about it. It's not about money or anything like that. I remember Katy Perry describing it as something like your little brother opening all of your presents early on Christmas, which I thought was a decent analogy for it. The fun is still there, you still get the present, but it's just not as exciting as having the grand unveil. That's it.

The "people are dying of hunger" argument is dumb too. If you think nobody can complain about anything ever, then I assume literally nothing bothers you in your day-to-day life because there are bigger issues, right? It's irrelevant lol.

I always feel bad for the artist, but I also listen to the leaks. :giggle: I guess I balance myself out though, since I more often than not do end up downloading the song when it's officially released.

Sadly it was even an issue before the internet/tech access made it as easy and frequent as it is no. I remember in 2002 Tori Amos has Scarlet's Walk coming out, and because previous albums had been leaked after being sent to the press for review, they started only sending them as CD's inside of Walkmen that were super glued and secured shut and demanded them back afterwards. **** is way more complicated now!
