Her streaming numbers obviously helped and the Grammys gave it a boost at #5 to stabilise it because it was down to around #7 after just 3 days. She's lucky to get top ten in this current climate. By the looks of things, she might be lucky to still be in the top ten next week, though. New tracks have been released and she's going to slip down to #8 on itunes at this rate. She's due to perform on the BRITS in 5 days but I doubt that she's going to be the star attraction of the night, what with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Robbie Williams and Bruno Mars also performing. I can see her fading into the background with that lot. And also, this will likely by her last major bit of British promo for this song, it's not going to get any major than the BRITS. UK promo is probably going to die right down after this, so this is her last chance to make a splash. As I said before, where are all her devoted fans who got all her previous lead singles to #1? This is a big change in fortune for her. And if a #7 debut, including streaming numbers, is the most support her British fans can give her for a lead single, her follow-up singles look to do a really bleak performance.

I also notice that her international positions are really low too. A top 10 in just 4 countries in the debut week is shocking for an artist of Katy's caliber who's coming off the back of a mega world tour. Remember that streaming being taken into consideration really enables songs to debut high in their debut weeks these days, so this performance is really bad. It didn't even make it on the Billboard Hot 100 - not even the top of their Bubbling Under chart. That's with a Grammys performance to boost it. This era is going to be one hell of a bumpy ride for her. She's actually going to have to work if she wants those hits.

I can't imagine that feeling when you're a MEGA pop star and you start to realize your music isn't charting like it used to. I would be an anxious MESS.

I'd be so scared to lose so much, particularly my position in the public eye. It would suck to see newer artists  (like Ed Sheeran) come and chart where I used to. Going to events and no longer being the media's most sought after artist.

It's gotta be terrible

This comment sounds like it should end with a little evil smirk because we're Gaga fans and we hate Katy and are secretly loving watching her fail! But seriously. After that little bit of immaturity is over, I do genuinely feel bad for her. It was hard watching Gaga go down massively in popularity in 2013. Hell, it was hard watching her go through various controversies during BTW for that matter. But seeing her suffer during the AP era was sad to watch, the most heart-wrenching era to be a Gaga fan. That must be what Katy's fans are going through right now and while one part of me is thinking it's karma for them being so smug during Katy's Prism era and for Katy blocking Gaga by releasing Roar at the same time...the humane side in me is feeling more than a little sorry for them.

Some of us laughed at Katy when we saw that backstage footage of her being all sad because E.T wasn't charting well in the UK initially. But you've got to step back and think for a minute - Katy's major label career has been all about the charts. Its never been about anything else. When your entire raison d'etre is to chart well, it's gotta hurt when you don't. It must make you feel like you're momentarily...worthless. At least if you make a song from the heart, you can rest assured that even if it doesn't chart well, you're still safe in the knowledge that you made a good song for artistic credibility. But if you make an ok, somewhat generic song purely for chart purposes and it doesn't do well, what do you have to fall back on? At least true artists can still pull in money from album sales and touring sales because people really connect with their work, even if it doesn't chart well. But if you're generic and everything you have is based on being generic, if the public don't like your work, you have nothing. Katy's experiencing what it's like when you've made a song that is close to your heart but it doesn't chart well. CTTR is clearly a song with a topic that she believes in and is truly passionate about and it's her most mature lead single to date. She was hoping people would like her new, more mature image and it's not working out like she hoped. This is the first time that she's ever experienced an underperformance for a lead single. She's going to take it badly. And Gaga fan or not, I do feel for her.

#7 is still better than PI which was #15 and Formation which reached #10...

If she solds the same amount of Album Copies than Gags or Bey its al fine for her

I think it's time for FameGa to come back and slay the world with The Fame Fatale

Not bad at all. I don't think the song is as strong as her previous so it's still a good position. She'll bounce back, can't hit #1 every time.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
