The Third Single Should Be...

hello everyone!

So I was doing some thinking about what the third single should be from "Joanne" and listening to the album over and over, trying to decide if the next single should be "A-YO" or "Dancin' In Circles" to blow up on the radio, or "Diamond Heart" or "Hey Girl" for the epic music video possibilities, but none of these songs really feel like classic Lady Gaga songs that she'll want to perform forever and that will instantly click with the GP. So I was thinking about what has worked and what hasn't work from this era. What didn't work was "Perfect Illusion", with a huge comeback single, radio deal, music video, etc. This song should have been Number 1. But it didn't work because it's not what people want from Lady Gaga anymore. Also.... "John Wayne"... the music video is amazing but the song has barely cracked the top 200 on itunes.

I see the same things happening with "AYO" and "Dancin' in Circles". They are kind of radio friendly but "AYO's chorus is too country twang and in "Dancin in Circles" her vocal is alittle too theatrical, just like in Perfect Illusion and the GP didn't love her vocal on that track.

So what has worked? Obviously the ballad that has 9 lives... "Million Reasons" is slaying right now and has had many ups and downs since October. From the casual fans to the haters...this song has brought people back to loving Lady Gaga because it's what they least expected from her and it's so relatable and raw. They can appreciate her writing, the story, the vocal, the heartbreak, and sing along and feel the same things she's feeling.

Bringing me to my conclusion that, the song "Joanne" should be the next single. This is a song like "Million Reasons" that showcases Gaga's songwriting, vocal, heartache, story telling. etc. This is a folk Stevie Nicks like classic and every hater or casual fan that i've played it for, fell in love with this song, just like "Million Reasons". They were instantly paying attention and relating. She just gave us the fun amazing John Wayne video for the old school pop fans, and when MR dies down, she should release this future classic to the masses with a beautiful video (I envision her at a dive bar sitting in the crowd watching someone like herself singing on stage) because this is a song that will sell well, it's already streaming strong with zero promo, and people will eat it up like MR. and we can look back at this as Gaga's acoustic era! Let me know what you think!

I'm honestly very okay with Joanne as a single.

It's also a plus that she's not exactly bad on it on guitar. Fair game that it's in G, but she does it well- her two televised performances of it have been fantastic.

I want it as a single; however, it wouldn't be great to have two similar songs as singles, especially from an artist like Gaga.

An upbeat third single, such as A-YO, Dancin' in Circles, or even Hey Girl would be great for the summer. And then I feel we could let Joanne be the fourth and final single during late summer/fall. I feel it fits will with the season.

Diamond Heart is the only choice. I like A-Yo, but it sort of put its toe in the water. No one snapped. The John Wayne video slays, but idk, it feels not right for radio. I could be wrong. Diamond Heart is a bit screechy, like PI, but it has so much more nuance. And the chorus is sick. And the bridge into the chorus is sort of epic.

Oh, and DIC is a fun fourth single. But it's a bad choice for the next. Esp with what MR is doing. We need to build. It's pyramid time, monsters. Build.

Joanne is a good song for us as Little Monsters but it won't even be a top 50 . Let's be real here Million Reasons is only successful cause of the Super Bowl. I want by March A-YO as a single I don't like it that much but it's somehow good for the general public. And by July I want DIC it has great potential to be a summer hit. And finally by the end of the year or maybe 2018 start the last single should be Angel Down.

I want Diamond Heart. They could always do a radio remix to enhance the verses a bit or create a more typical pop sound (even though I like it as it already is).  It's my favourite song on Joanne.

Here's a youtube remix I found of Diamond Heart. It's not bad. Somethig similar might work for radio.

I really like Joanne and I think it would be a cute single, but you talk about what the GP wants/expects from Gaga and then come up with Joanne? Joanne doesn't sound like a typical Gaga song at all (fortunately, finally a non-piano ballad :hor:).

Hey girl or Joanne right now and then DIC in April/May and then finish the video series with Angel Down.
