At least Beyoncé took some risks. AOTY isn't for most risky album, though. At least, it never has been in the past. That hasn't been the criteria for a win in that category. It is an issue but in Beyonce's case, having sampled A LOT of lyrics and instrumentals from other artists, and relying on a village of writers and producers, your point about originality dies. River 117,908
I wouldn't give Adele or Beyonce AOTY, their albums were not good. Adele was the same repeatable love ballads that we heard on the previous album.. Beyonce, let's divide it to 2 different things: 1. The music itself - it was simply not good.. 2. The short movie - this one deserves a prize yes, it's a shame that she didn't win for this one but the Beatles won... but AOTY is about music and not about visuals.. so here is the reason why it's not AOTY + the singles were not successful at all (not talking about album sales but charts positions and radio plays). So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I just read that Solange tweet and believed her but I don't know where she got her source from. And they're the most awarded because of the many R&B and rap categories not because of the 4 major categories Actually, eleven different artists since 1958. (13, if you count Stevie- three times) Six in the past twenty years.

Also, where did you see the 1958 tweet? I can't find it anywhere. I just found the "last 20 years" tweet, and even that one is wrong (thanks @Muscletank for letting me know). Lemonade has 70 co writers so I understand why Adele's album of 5 writers would look better. The albums I was thinking about as examples were The College Drop Out And To Pimp A Butterfly
