Mister Gaga 22,929
Back to Basics is definitely her best album to date (and one of my favorite albums of all time). It's her artistic peak, and i think that her vocal peak too. God, she sings her heart out, the rendition of all the songs are great, especially Hurt. The whole album is an ode to music; jazz and blues. Listen to Back In The Day (best song on the record). It has those care free songs (Slow Down Baby, Candyman, ANOM), lyrically deep songs (Oh Mother, Hurt, Save Me From Myself) and very personal songs (On Our Way, The Right Man). I truly believe that Legend X peaked here, this is her legacy, her true voice, ha sound. It's an incredibly underrated album; but i'm happy i enjoy it whenever i listen to it, such an emotional ride, an opportunity to appreciate Xtina's versatility. Then, i'd place ha born this way, Stripped. Definitely an era that served for inspiration for so many pop girls (Gaga, Miley, Selena, Britney). Christina raised the bar so high for pop eras, and she got direct inspiration for Madonna's Like a Prayer. It was the first era with that much variety (this is the key) and controversy since LAP. Xtina first released Dirrty, she invented the whole good girl gone bad concept (used later by Rihanna, Miley, etc). Then she released 3 empowerment singles back to back, one of them being one of the most influential songs of the 00's, Beautiful. And it's video! Xtina took risk after risk on Stripped, and didn't care about backlash, that's why i admire her so much, she really stood for what she thought (does she reminds you of someone?). I put it on 2nd place because, imo, and musically speaking, Stripped is way behind of BTB, but as an era (music videos, controversy, impact), it would be 1st. Sorry about the long descriptions, but i admire her so much for making those incredible records! Then i'd place her debut album, Christina Aguilera; that established her not only as a pop girl, but also as an extremely talented vocalist. It was not just another blonde sexy girl. The girl had talent, and she made it clear on her first album. 4th place, i chose Bionic, because she had the guts to release a truly experimental pop record, which was not radio friendly at all (very ARTPOPish, but ARTPOP had it's experimental songs, and it's radio friendly songs: Applause, DWUW, Gypsy. Bionic had none besides NMT), and she fought for it despite it's floppage. This is when Xtina's creativity (or will) ended. Lotus was a failed attempt to make a comeback, which had bops, but they were pure trash, and they didn't sound like Xtina's work. It sounds like a random DJ work. I hope Legend X will make a comeback one day. She's extremely talented, and had a lot of impact on today's pop culture, she deserves it.
