Well they're definitely getting there in terms of America - they're definitely going to crack it this era, if not the next.

They very much may, but in no way was ZAYN made more popular in America because of the breakup with perrie. Which was the original argument.

They've all managed to maintain some level of popularity so I don't think 1D will have that typical one standout star. I thought Zayn might have been because he left first but he wasn't.

Don't know who Geri Halliwell is. :oprah:

Regardless if people could miraculously tell Harry's voice, ZAYN's was always the most popular and recognizable.

Twilight was highly hated but still did great at the box office and it's soundtracks didn't do that well. So the soundtracks and music for 50 shades of grey are doing well because of the music itself and not the movie.

We'll see if Taylor's ex can match ZAYN's success.

Taylor's ex? Girl they were seen together a couple times over the course of a month. Everyone knows that was a stunt. Its been proven when she said "I Knew You Were Trouble" was about him even though she also claimed she wrote it months before the album, an album that came out months before they "dated"

Zayn just really was never the most popular. And if you don't know who Ginger Spice is, you really need to educate yourself on pop culture.

Maybe I was wrong about Oceania, but conquering America is a big shot.

Are you American? just wondering

I'm fortunate enough to live between 2 continents and have gained a real perspective of who is actually "world famous" and a local act. I'm guessing your American since you act like Perrie didn't help Zayn's star. She did, any article about Zayn in the UK press brings her up. They helped each other.

I'm also going to assume you're American because you don't know your Spice Girls. 1D were really a big British phenomenon, and if Zayn was so important to the group I really don't see how they continued getting huge hits after he left.

1D also kept it really classy by moving on, instead of bringing him up all the time. Zayn literally couldn't shut his mouth about 1D, still can't to this day.

I have no doubt Harry will be bigger than Zayn, because Harry actually performs.

I've been excited for this for a very long time because I know he's a different type of male artist, he's not gonna rely on sex or make R&B or Dance music. He's not gonna be shirtless on magazines or anything he's gonna be showcasing his talent and letting y'all know what we been knew since day 1 (plus the fact his creative input into all their albums already proved) he's the best member and is gonna serve quality.

With Taylor's dating habits, a month is all she needs. I Knew You Were Trouble was about Jake Gyllenhaal. Style is obviously about him though.

Yes I'm American.

But don't try me, I know the difference between a global star and local act. I knew who Perrie and Little Mix were before her and ZAYN started dating. But you're kidding yourself, if you think Little Mix is global. Me saying their break up had little help to his career, has nothing to do with my nationality. It literally had little to no traction in any other regions besides Europe and maybe Oceania. Like you said U.K. media always brings their names up together.

Umm I'm a pop culture buff and I know who the spice girls are, so don't even try to come for me. I just only know Victoria and Mel B by their real names. Used to love Spice World and their music as a kid, so have several seats.

Omg 1D were huge in Europe? That's so surprising considering they're an English boy band.

I can't think of any bands that tried to keep going after they're lead left, so there's no real comparison. And never said ZAYN made the group, but he was the most popular worldwide besides I guess Europe, according to you. And of course they would still have success w/o him; they're 1D, like the biggest boy group of the 21st century. Just like they would have had success, if Harry left instead of ZAYN.

I literally don't care about how pressed ZAYN may be about 1D. His solo music is great, much better than most of 1D's material. And I doubt Harry will beat ZAYN's success and even if he does match or beat it, I guarantee the music won't be as good.

But you're more than welcome to be delusional and jump to conclusions. :reductive:

I honestly don't think any of their solo careers will outshine their success as 1D. I hope at least one of them proves me wrong. Wishing him the best of luck  although that last comment about redefining music in the century sounds... :oprah:

I just can't take someone seriously who calls themselves a Spice Girls fan but doesn't know Geri.
