It's because Intelligence (FBI, NSA, etc) is leaking this and they want to maximize impact. By prolonging this controversy, slowly adding more details about the treason of the whole administration, they're helping the US as a whole get rid of Trump and they're putting pressure on the GOP to take country over party. Exactly this! The Intelligence Community and the Press are having to be the checks and balances in this administration and with this group of GOP sellouts. This is how Watergate went down.
