And about the beginning, is it possible that the prerecorded video was mute and Gaga was singing that part live while hanging from the wires waiting to descend, as if singing over her own footage? The vocals for God Bless America were probably recorded in a studio and then she probably lip-synced to them while filming the video, because I doubt that they could set up a whole sound system for her mic to work on the roof.
