Because iTunes position does jackshit in these days. Radio spins get you more exposure through more people (at equivalents of full price) and Spotify exposure is important in an industry transitioning to streaming

Sales is still the biggest percentage in the Hot100 formula. If it wasn't Gaga wouldn't have gotten to a rightly deserved number 4 spot.

This transition is being very problematic. Streaming is not nearly as profitable as sales were or are right now.

You know how many streams are needed to make the same amount of money than a million sales?

The industry is not going to abandon sales and going full streaming the way streaming is right now.

Tidal was a total failure, but is an indicative than the actual streaming model is not what industry want.

TIDAL isn't a total failure neither is Apple Music or Spotify. Paying streaming services are the largest growing segment of the way the GP consumes music. Digital sales are dying so are physical sales with the exception of Vinyl. But Vinyl is a niche market.

It may be the biggest %Β but it sure as hell doesnt influence radio and streaming playlists as we unfortunately found out with MR. Meanwhile, songs that barely crack 50k pure sales get to hit higher BB100 ranks. Notice the disconnect?

I acknowledge the transition being crappy. I wasnt defending it. I was just stating an observable relationship between radio and streaming helping each other (and also eventually influencing sales) more than just sales alone.
