You just contradicted yourself by saying that the Grammys and Oscars should nominate the best of the best. This post is about what Frank said, that's why we are talking about him. The WHOLE point is that the award is subjective and that winners are literally determining by people who probably haven't listened to every album nominated in the field of music. And yes, if we were to judge based on success, then the award was clear. Writing/production. Have you listen to every album released, label/no label in that time frame? Again subjective. I don't get the points. "By the nominees. You just contradicted yourself by saying that the Grammys and Oscars should nominate the best of the best." What? No I didn't. "This post is about what Frank said, that's why we are talking about him." The topic is about what Frank wrote, I was taking about what Frank wrote in terms of AOTY 1989 vs TPAB "The WHOLE point is that the award is subjective and that winners are literally determining by people who probably haven't listened to every album nominated in the field of music." YES! I know! I think you have interpreted my post as "The Grammy's don't choose the winners subjectively though..." when my point is "The Grammy's shouldn't choose winners subjectively though". AOTY isn't something that is subjective, it's something that can be objectively determined through the things I have listed. The Grammys treat it as something subjective but they shouldn't, there is no need to and that's what the problem is. "And yes, if we were to judge based on success, then the award was clear." But we shouldn't "Writing/production. Have you listen to every album released, label/no label in that time frame? Again subjective." I'm sorry, but I can't take you seriously with this point. The comparison was between 1989 and TPAB not between TPAB and every album ever released. Of course there are albums that are going to be snubbed - but the point is 1989 didn't deserve the win over an album like TPAB. The Grammy's need to take into consideration the most relevant albums of the year same with every academy award.

FrozenKookie 2,638
Been a fan since channel ORANGE, and Blonde isn't anywhere near being a miss. I can't even remember the last time he rant. It's obvious he's just been fed up with all this BS. He's going to tone down after this, that's for sure and it should be. He didn't say any lies though. It's just a little bit arrogant but that's it.
Versace 7,979
People need to stop undermining Taylor's work, just because Taylor hasn't handled her career in the best way and just cause her album was a mainstream success does not mean it is not a masterpiece. Taylor truly deserved it, pop is being seen as this basic and non-meaningful genre these days. Just because To Pimp A Butterfly is a rap masterpiece does not mean 1989 is not one of the best albums of recent years. It might be overrated but the point is regardless of its commercial success, the content is there, the lyrics and production are great, the album is cohesive and diverse. Both albums easily deserve that award but the Grammy committee saw something in 1989.
baptism 2,670
**** I hate Frank Ocean. He's so ****ing pompous and full of himself. It probably has something to do with the fact that he and Beyonce are the two most overrated artists in the last 20 years. Blonde was an absolute bore. Every nap I took this year could have been soundtracked by the album Blonde.... but I don't even listen to music when I nap. He sounds like an idiot. nickziza 228
Okay, but 1989 was a masterpiece in my opinion. I really enjoyed the album, I thought it deserved to win. the album was popular, was a new step for Taylor musically, and sold great. I didn't really enjoy TPAB too much tbh 🙄
Josip 3,971
He's black, bisexual and has a different approach to R&B - only reasons critics love him. Other than that, he is so average, so uninteresting, so blah. Overrated. Though, it is always nice to hear acknowledgement of 1989 AOTY being complete and utter bullshit. The same thing will happen this year, only with Beyonce.

Jay.P 2,336
I would've supported him 100% if it wasn't for "I'm one of the best alive" Do you hear that? It's poison.
Guest
He has 100% right! '1989' is basic af and it won AOTY only because of its commercial success! It didn't even deserve to be nominated. 'To Pimp a Butterfly' was by far the best albumin the category but to lost to Basic-Taylor-music-for-teenagers! Duhhh..
