Website for disabled kids removed after DeVos takes office

A U.S. Department of Education website, empowering families of students with disabilities, has disappeared -- and already embattled Trump education chief Betsy DeVos may be to blame.

U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell want to know what happened to the vanished website, and have asked Education Secretary DeVos to put it back up.

The website was set up under President George W. Bush so educators, advocates and parents could get a "one-stop" explanation on the federal Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), as well as know their rights under the disability law.

Digged a bit and the ed.gov page says the site is experiencing "technical issues" ...... I call BS.

Would have been fixed by now.

This really looks like Neo-Nazis have taken over the white house (ironic name it has atm). Nazi's not only shamed (and eventually deported) Jews, but also people of the LGBT community, black people, disabled people :awkney:  mark my words this is just the beginning :rip:

Have the website been "down for technical issues" longer than a few hours? Sorry, I haven't heard about this till now.

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.

Oh man, that's bad. I wouldn't be where I am today without the assistance for my disability in school (though the system is different in Canada I imagine). I can't imagine how the families of those students feel.

Seems like the part of the site on the ed.gov site is up with some info but it says the main page is having issues.... but for 3 days ago? Right after DeVos is confirmed.

People will defend this. I wouldn't want to bring a child into this world, just to spare more people the stupidity. :toofunny:

Are these web pages that important?

I mean, I can understand concern for LGBT rights because of Pence and stuff, but why do you think that they would make something worse for kids with disabilities???

They are very important, especially if your child has a disability, and it Betsy Davos she only cares about charter schools and thinks public education is a waste of time. It's hard right now for children  with disabilities to attend public school and get a proper education and I'm pretty sure that this uneducated bitch Davos is gonna help

Sure it isn't for maintenance? Have the Department of Education made an official statement on the matter? Someone ought to Tweet them and see if they give explanation. Can't think of any benefits to this unless this is part of a major cutback to governmental expense... definitely looks bad to knock anything for disabled children.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
