AlphaMonster 1,806
Okay, this is in Gaga Thoughts section because I will establish a relation between MJ's words about Madonna and Gaga. In this recording, MJ says that many people are jealous of him in the industry, and one of them is Madge because MJ thinks that women don't scream for other women, and men are too cool to scream for other women. Do you think this is true ? It might be sexist but I think it is true objectively, 90% of music acts that move their concert crowds like no other are male acts. Stereotypically masculine straight men only scream for stereotypically manly acts like Iron Maiden. Most girls also only scream for charismatic male figures. Good thing is that Gaga has us, the gays I am pretty sure that no other pop concert goers are as loud as gays of Gaga except for maybe thirsty girls of 1D or Maroon 5 etc. PS: Also, if you go back to the beginning of the video, MJ says that he won't go to strip clubs where they cross dress etc, his tone is obviously homophobic. What do you think of that ?
Jed 7,716
See but that whole quote he said while it probably used to be true isn't anymore because of us gayz. We ain't too cool to scream for anyone
Computer 10,973
In some ways Michael's words sound incredibly offensive to Madonna and in other ways it's an interesting comment on how crowds react to different artists. If he said "the reaction to her isn't as fair or even" instead of "it bothers her that she's a woman" it would have been fine. Michael was a great humanitarian and I was and am a hardcore stan but he always had some very old fashioned ideas. 💚💛💕❣⭕💢💢 | ⓜⓔⓡⓡⓨ ©ⓗⓡⓘⓢⓣⓜⓐⓢ
Ricardo 7,913
Madonna has had the gays since the beginning of her career, we're not "too cool" to scream and the fact he unacknowledged the gays is insulting, anyways he was really egocentric
Duella Dvil 10,585
I don't necessarily understand how this relates to gaga, besides the misnomer that all of her concert goers are gay males. www.instagram.com/theduella666

Whispering 18,865
This isn't true. (About women screaming for women) Evidence: Hannah Montana concert, Pink and the Adele concert. The first listed had my ears ringing for days!

Okay Hannah Montana concert is full of non pubescent girls, let that die Other than that, I haven't been to Pink or Adele concert but I doubt your argument is correct because first of all, Adele makes very slow pop, that's not a type of concert listeners would rock the arena. I don't know about Pink but her live performances I saw on youtube seemed pretty calm to me. Like a crowd like this: MJ could get it but Madonna couldn't. In that case, scream is just like cheering, the spirit. It doesn't have to be literal screaming.

My observation is from comparing dozens of concerts over many years. Adele was loud as hell. People stood up the entire two hours, except for a couple of songs during her acoustic set. Pink...calm? Lol, no way!
Lucas 27,487
If Madonna was bothered of being a woman it would be because of the inequalities that male artists and female artists have to face. Female artists would get trashed for doing the same things than some male artists, and Madonna fought against it her whole career (particulary about sexual expression). Like Gaga said "if I were a boy, you'd call me a rock star, but as I'm a woman I'm a slut" or whatever were her exact words And I don't think Madonna ever had a problem to make women scream for her at her shows This whole thing is really weird tbh

Pop concerts were always pretty chill. But again my reference point is MJ, Queen (with Freddie not Lambert), Bon Jovi type of crazy crowds, or eastern european stadium crowds that are wild. Sister 9,907
He is so wrong though about Madonna. Madonna had girls from her beginnings, because she was so strong, free and cool, later she had all of the gays. I think that Michael was truly The Pop Prince, but he was also already a Jackson, from The Jackson 5 and that set his audience apart too, he was already a part of a set legacy and that is the big difference in his audience's reaction to him. Every girl wanted to be Madonna and later the gays did too. She is almost, if not already an equal to him or his female counterpart. She built a legacy herself. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I would expect MJ to be more, how to stay, classy. The way MJ talks here is no different than any other fvckboy. Like he might not want to go to Strip Club but his way of expressing that is just cringey.
