Katy Perry - Chained To The Rythm (Lyric Video)

I love several of Katy's songs, but this one just doesn't make a lot of sense. The music changing from a slow seventies sound to whatever the heck happens later is just weird, and the lyrics are like something that Katy dug out of Sia's trash bin in the middle of the night.

Like OMG, I just saw your new single on iTunes, Katy!!  :excited2:

I bought the John Wayne song and music video instead.  :classy:

I can't believe that you are calling these lyrics bad.

She just described Americans as wasted zombies who bite everything that is served (Video reference)

But it's still wrapped with words "rythm", "favorite song", "dance" so it gives feel like it's fun pop song.

It really is political song.

For me it comes down to the fact that I don't listen to Katy to hear about social injustice or politics. I listen to Katy for fun flirty pop that cheers me up and makes me want to dance! That's like her niche, so it's weird when she tries to marry it to some political wake-the-people stuff. So many artists are doing that, and I hate to see her trying to awkwardly jump on that bandwagon. I like her, but I just don't get her right now I guess.

There are an abundance of haters on this site trying to put Katy down , but let me tell you this- this song will top the charts and Katy will get her 10th number one song on Billboard. Who will be pressed then?

You will. Because those who prefer to discuss music critically and objectively will still find it to be mediocre. :lolly:

I actually like the song lyrically, but the production and vocals are so bland. It's not exciting. What's funny is I have so many friends that hate Sia who are praising this song...it's essentially a Sia reject with Katy vocals? I'm so confused.

I hated it the first listen but it grew on me and I really like the chorus. However it sounds more sia than Katy. That's the only thing I Dont like about it.

edit: I love sia so dont come for me

It's grown on me, I like the music a lot the beat is fun but I just don't like the lyrics, can't pin what I don't like about it, maybe it's Katy's vocals (no shade I like Katy but I think it would sound better with a different artist?) :laughga:

Edit: I don't think Marley's verse brings anything, would've been MUCH better with Nicki as the featured and I don't even like Nicki that much, just think she would've fitted in well

show me to me please

It sounds like a Sia song that was rejected by another artist and Sia took it to This Is Acting but she rejected it too so she gave it to Katy Perry :ladyhaha:

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

It kind of has that PI flavor where the song never really seems to go anywhere. It's very monotone and repetitive. But I like the subtle political message.
