it sounds exactly like This is How We Do, is an ok song, but i think it's too weak for a lead, Roar was more powerful even tho i hate it.

The instrumental is fire but the lyrics are terrible and the chorus is underwhelming.

those chorus lyrics are..

Turn it up, it's your favorite song
Dance, dance, dance to the distortion
Come on, turn it up, keep it on repeat
Stumbling around like a wasted zombie
Yeah, we think we're free
Drink, this one is on me

Katy  can do better than that ^

It sounds like Style by T Swift mixed with that Chocolate Rain song that went viral on YouTube a long time ago :creepflop:

Okay but maybe the lyrics are supposed to sound like a basic pop song but they have a double meaning...

like "turn it up it's your favourite song" means keep up the fake closed view of the world because it's safe and easy to consume

"dance to the distortion" means to keep going along with all the lies perpetuated by the governing bodies, media, society etc. i.e a distorted reality

"stumbling around like a wasted zombies" just pretend like everything is okay, party and get drunk with your friends to block out reality

"we think we're free" we have an illusion of freedom and choice created by the mass media and society but really we're all "chained" to social constructs which enslave us

"drink, this one is on me" she's telling us to "drink" up another manufactured distraction created by her i.e this song

Just my interpretation

It's a cute cake, but underbaked.

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

The song relies heavily on the pre-chorus and chorus. I was so underwhelmed by that verse that I didn't even pay attention until the chorus. You could literally do so much more with a chorus and instrumental like that. It's a bop but wears out fast due to the flat verse.

TheFame Monster

she continues to follow trends and not grow as an artist's. watered down overused trendy beat, cliche lyrics, rent a rapper feature, overused songwriter. sellout who tries to justify her "artistry", when it should be able to speak for itself

:golfclap:

I mean, people not understanding the political subtext to that song after the 2016 US election fiasco is quite puzzling :duck:

Katy was just as active and showing of her stance on social media as Gaga was

The biggest turn off is chorus. It has awful lyrics, katy just whips us with her voice and it sounds like we heard it already in many of her older songs. I dig "Stumbling around like a wasted zombie", but I hate her repeating "Dance dance dance" or "Chained to the rhythm" sequence. It's gettin worse with rap part, I thougt we already past the trend of putting rappers into song just for sake of having one. I do enjoy verses though and pre-chorus, guitar in background is amazing. I must agree the song is catchy but overall it's very bland and lacks of passion. My first thought was, this is a radio product.

It's not bad by any means. But I wouldn't say it's inspiring either, just a regular, clean and easy track to listen to. One thing KP does well is keep things consistent
