I disagree with this, Baby and Oops! sound alike but all the following albums' sound were different (I can understand the similarities with Blackout/Circus but they don't have the same producers and Blackout sounds way more dark). All of Katy's singles since Teenage Dream could fit in the same album. Even Chained To The Rythm although it's said to have a disco vibe I can see it in PRISM after Birthday i agree lol
DIVA 666
In my opinion it's because she's not really a very authentic artist, and is more of a vessel for her record company to sell music, tickets, and products. She's not that invested nor interested, and so what she does isn't all that personal to her. Just an opinion of mine though. We're all Stronger Together! Pharamon 6,839
She's not an artist... she's a popstar that's why.
djBuffoon 12,120
She is an artist who prefers to remain stagnant and safe instead of taking risk. Which is fine, it's her career and she's done well for herself, but it's not nearly as interesting to watch.
display name 4,360
Well, what she's done so far has worked for her commercially (for the most part; she has had hits, even with Prism), and she's continuously been able to satisfy her fans. She's an entertainer, and she's continued to entertain. Is there a need for her to drastically change what she's doing? Not really.
just another gay 836
I think she does a little, many tracks in PRISM are actually more mature but those are not singles.
Mister Gaga 22,913
She doesn't envolve only, i can actually see a regression, but that's just my personal opinion. One Of The Boys is still her best album, and it contains her best song, Thinking of You. And i think we all agree that katy is at her best on ballads. Thinking of You, TOTGA, Prism's ballads...she has so much wasted potential...

Which is cute, fun, and catchy music with eccentric and colourful visuals and it works because it is what we expect from her. Sure, she matures and changes her aesthetic with each album, but her body of work and discography is still cohesive. For example, I can put Dark Horse on Teenage Dream and it would still fit, or I can put Hot n' Cold on Prism and it would still work. On the other hand, look what happened when Gaga suddenly switched from pop to country... Both the public and the fans were caught off-guard and she just lost her touch. Can I put John Wayne on The Fame Monster? No. Can I put Paparazzi on Born This Way? No. Can I put Alejandro on Joanne? No. I see that as a good thing for Gaga. not a bad thing. Many more people appreciate her now.

Quark 7,098
5 hours ago, Haroon said: Music is art, exactly, and so art that you enjoy may not be the same as everyone else's. An artist shouldn't need to change their art for being seen as talented or acclaimed and just because you don't see her as talented or creative that doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't You're here saying artists should do this and should do that, well how about they just do what they want to, I don't understand why you're imposing things onto them Let them be, if her art isn't for you then there are many people out there whose art you will resonate with. Just as there are many people out there who resonate with Katy Perry's art Is not just me though. Katy's songs are popular mainly among young people. But the general conscious when it comes to Katy is that she is not talented and that her music is disposable. And that is because she hasn't proven that she is an actual artist because she sticks to her bubblegum pop. Gaga was seen that way too at the bigenning of her career but she managed to turn most people around. Now Gaga is seen as very talented and is generally respect. Music shows creativity but it isn't about being creative for the sake of other people so they can give you their stamp of approval It's doesn't matter. This is just another way for Enigma to lift Gaga up by bringing others again. When will he evolve? Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction? tomdsgn 1,913
Because, simply put, she is a business, not an artist. She's like an iPhone. Release the same thing every year with a few changes.
