Rich countries tend to be more educated, and consequently more open minded, less religious, and more liberal hence why western europe is advanced when it comes to gay rights. It amazes me that central and south american countries are also progressive when it comes to lgbt right even though they are quite catholic and not quiet wealthy. The race and the culture itself is naturally gay .. It has a lot to do with emulation and modernization. Latin America is doing its best to appear as modern as possible in order for the western world to view them as equals. It's not perfect, but we have the law on our side. For instance hate crimes are punished harder than other assaults/harassment.
