Kind of funny. My point is that back then, Beyonce just followed the crowd. Her first real risk was with 4, which went for a classic retro sound at a time when dance was ruling the charts. But she picked up the trends again with her self-titled comeback, by going for contemporary RnB, which was making a comeback at the time and further extened that with Lemonade. 4 was the only time when she wasn't a trend follower but she's fallen right in with what's cool other than that. She never would have made an album like Lemonade back in the day. She's only doing it now because it's socially relevant, so she knew its controversy would be welcomed and praised. So, I don't get why some people say Lemonade was such a risky album. It involved socially relevant issues, a whole heap of drama and it's the widely praised Beyonce doing it.
