Katy Perry copies Gaga a lot and I'm not even talking about music.

I may be wrong about these but...

Gaga gets inner arm tattoo (the Maria Rilke wherever the name is writing) Katy gets one there.

Gaga gets septum piercing, she got one soon after.

Gaga releases a single, Katy has to do it on the same day.

Actually Gaga changed ha release date to Katy's because of hackers. Gaga was supposed to be 1 week after katy

Britney and she is always like a year behind. Glory is a great album but the sound of the music sounds like it was from 2015.

Maroon 5

They're a sellout band who jump into every trend each year.

Don't Wanna Know is the best example. Like, c'mon, a feature with Kendrick Lamar? Really?

Work is undeniably on the tropical sound trend, that began in 2015, it was quite obvious.

Then tripping onto electronic sounds in 2010,11,12 so yea... She hops onto trends to get the hit.

But I can't deny her influence on the industry, probably more than Gaga, who is literally credited for bringing in electro pop into the scene in 2008.

And I don't deny that she cant rock on any sound and still sound soo good, she does have country songs, ballads that are really good. But I'm just trying to say that she is the first person that comes to mind who has had several hits just by hopping onto several sounds that were just on the verge of oversaturation.

Are you deaf? In what sense is it a Tropical sound trend? Last time I listened to work it had a reggae-dancehall-rnb vibe to it. Hunty she wasn't following a trend she started one with drake and when 2016 came hip-hop & rap became the biggest trend.

I just agreed that it was my mistake in my previous comments 🐵

Again, like... TIWYCF doesn't end the conversation of whether she is the 'biggest trend follower'. Was it a trendy song? Sure, but that doesn't make her the biggest trend follower.

I explained in my very first quote to you what trends she has set and the numerous popular artists that have stylistically and sonically been inspired by Rihanna. The numerous artists who have admitted to looking to have a sound like Rihanna or be styled like Rihanna. I even mentioned Beyonce releasing a reggae inspired hit with Hold Up, when the song was originally written for Rihanna who has been making reggae and reggae inspired hits for years.

I explained how many music publications credit her with moving the urban sound from light and poppy to a darker and more alternative place - something which a range of popular artists (from The Weeknd to Drake to Nicki and Beyonce) have capitalised on and further developed.

I've admitted she has followed trends, like all commercial popstars have, but she has also taken more risks and been more individual than like 90% of them.

That's not much of a prediction, I'd make the same prediction for Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Madonna - even Gaga  Again, her last album was Anti that was not at all a 'trendy' record. One trendy feature doesn't mean she 'follows trends rn'.

If you disagree it's fine, we are just going to have to agree to disagree, I just think Rihanna is the odd choice over the range of pop artists that flock to Max Martin and Dr Luke for every album they make.

Let's end it at this.

I have said countless times that she is very original, and sets trends, but also follows some to get the occasional hit or two.

Loud era was a sellout.

The rest are totally original, and even set trends, and also influenced many great singers now.

I think she is the only pop superstar who will last more than 2 more decades.

#respect

Don't come for me again. I know what you want to say and totally understand.

Madonna, without a doubt.

She's had moments where she hasn't, but the times she has, has far outweighed the times she hasn't.

She was perhaps the biggest follower of this from 2008 to present day.

Justin Timberlake and Timbaland collab in 2008, RIGHT after both had been hugely successful in 2006/2007

2009 collab with Lil Wayne, the year right after Lollipop was huge

2012 collab with Nicki Minaj, right after Superbass

All of MDNA was a trend hopper on the EDM trend

etc.

And Gangnam Style

Rude Boy, Pon De Replay, Rihanna has a Tropical song in every album. It's her thing. She never leaves her island behind. As for electro pop Please Don't Stop the Music 2007  says hi.

Probably Jennifer Lopez. Everything she releases fits right in with whatever else it out at the time. Maybe she's not intentionally following trends. I mean, I don't think she writes her own songs anymore, but she and her team definitely try to play it safe.

I don't think she even knows what she's doing while making an album

TBH music is one of her side gigs. It's what she does on her time off inbetween starring and producing movies and TV shows. It makes sense that she would follow trends.

I credit this song for keeping me alive long enough for me to discover Gaga. It was a very difficult time.

With that being said, the song is still a rip off of MJ. Hence, why I love it.:usrs:

OT: Rihanna is so close to the front of the line, it's hard to tell if she's trendsetting or trend following. Regardless, she does it well and being first to jump on an established trend IS sort of trendsetting since there are no guarantees.

Katy Perry and Madonna are horrible trend followers. Katy catches a few people with her stunt but Madonna catches no one lol

Britney Spears...... should evolve. She needs to change. Her lack of love for music shows. #BORING
