Rank Jennifer Lopez's Albums

Jennifer Lopez is a strange celebrity, who has successful careers both as a singer and actress. However, neither path for her has led to severe critical success. I'm curious to know, for those have listened to her albums, how you'd rank them?

The albums: On the 6 (1999), J.Lo (2001), This Is Me...Then (2002), Rebirth (2005), Como Ama Una Mujer (2007), Brave (2007), Love? (2011), and A.K.A. (2014).

My Ranking:

1. J.Lo (2001) - I appreciate that this album had more personal input, writing, and direction from Lopez. It was more personal than On the 6, while obtaining the same commercial pop appeal.

2. On the 6 (1999) - While this album is a bit less personal, it is (in my opinion) iconic. This is the best album cover she's had as well (Brave, Love?, and A.K.A. are downright tragic).

3. This Is Me...Then (2002) - This album quite easily and appropriately follows J.Lo--personal, heavy input from Lopez, and some quality pop. I'll also add this is her second best album cover.

4. Brave (2007) - Her biggest commercial disappointment, and the beginning of the tragic album covers, but I like the album. It's got better direction than Love? and has a more restrained pop quality that I appreciate.

5. A.K.A (2014) - This album has highs and lows, certainly dragging in the middle. However, it opens and ends strongly and I appreciate what Lopez herself was trying. Booty is a total bop, while I love the Luh Ya Papi video (minus the intro...). I'd honestly listen more if the album cover was not so jarring...

6. Rebirth (2005) - I always felt this album had some high points, but felt too much like familiar ground to her two preceding albums.

7. Love? (2007) - This album is actually quite fun, but its vapid and empty. Lopez was promising some cohesion which she failed to deliver. I would put this on to work out or as party music, but it's not something to listen to and connect with...

8. Como Ama Una Mujer (2007) - I love Latin music. I speak Spanish, I love Spanish, I enjoy Hispanic culture. This album was alright. It tread no new ground in terms of the genre and, honestly, seemed like something Lopez did to prove herself.

Let me again emphasize, how terrible are the Brave, Love?, and A.K.A. album covers? :awkney:

I don't know, never heard them in full, only some of her singles including her biggest hits. I've only listened to A.K.A back when it was released and I liked it.

1. J.LO (Commercial peak and smart single choices. This is her best era. Period.

2. On The 6 ( This is where all started. Waiting for Tonight and If You had My Love are flawless and this is where i fell in love with her).

3. Brave ( It has sexy vibes and its direction is more focused than Love?).

4. LOVE? ( Most tracks are upbeat and fun so it's a nice collection to bop to. Gaga worked on Hypnotico and Invading my mind btw).

5. Rebirth (It has some highs like Get Right/Can't believe this is me/Step into my world but most of the other tracks were dated).

6. A.K.A (Most tracks are rather forgettable and the lyrics in some cases are very lazy. Worry No More is one of my faves though).

7. This is me...then (A flawless lead single again - Jenny from the block- and a great track - Glad- but has such cheesy and boring tracks like Dear Ben and the production is cheap.)

8. Como ama una mujer (I really love the lead single but apart from that nothing else is very innovative.

The op was clear. If you TRULY don't know her you should first read the op.:awkney: Not that difficult huh...

Honestly, never listened to a full album from her.

She doesn't appear to be an artist that has a full solid album. I feel like she's just got one or two bops per album and the rest is fluff.

They couldn't resist the obvious response I guess...

I finally listened to her entire discography while doing a report for work, so I was genuinely curious how others rank her. Thanks for indulging me.

Part of me regrets ranking Love? so low cause it is kind of fun...but in a guilty pleasure kind of way.

I hope she won't repeat AKA. Apart from Let It Be Me- Worry No More and Booty everything else is so bad.:emma:

I didn't mind AKA and while Luh Ya Papi is ridiculous...I still like it. Haha. I doubt she'll repeat AKA though, given how poorly it rolled out...
