Yeah, Islam is the most popular religion there (around 90% consider themselves Muslim) so it just goes to show really that we shouldn't just blindly accept it. I'm personally torn on the garment. It's imposed on a lot of women and I actually think it's crawl outside of that but what's the alternative for them, just stay in the house instead as their men won't allow them to leave? I would love to see it banned in the West but how productive that approach is can be debatable. Would we be actually helping anyone or will it just cause more suffering? I don't know if this is specific about Afghan blue burqa or is it general for niqabs, which are easy to add to hijab and just make by yourself. The article talks about sale and production, not fining women on the street. I doubt this is possible to implement, they have long history with niqabs, old women in villages won't care if some garments are not advertised or sold in markets, they'll make them.
