But the thing about the Tropical trend is that it has been here for way too long, its not a new trend but its still going which is why it's annoying Matter of opinion tho

I want more of that swing and 50s-60s sound a la Gaga's COME TO MAMA. Love that song. With that sound, it's either a hit or miss imo. Kudos to whoever can "modernize" the doo-wop sound and set the trend.

Actually, aside from the kids chanting, the only part of that song that's stuck in my memory is the "more than diamonds, more than gold" bit OT: Agreed I was hoping Joanne would be bigger just to shake up the industry a bit. These days, all you need for a #1 is a noise that gets stuck in someone's head and a simple beat with even simpler lyrics. It's gotten so old though 'cause all these songs are starting to sound the same So Joanne, pull me closer to that rock side of the genres, 'cause it's never getting older unlike certain other noises Spoiler That wasn't supposed to rhyme Spoiler And it doesn't so it's all good Billionaires are a cancer. Even the ones you like.
Lextyr97 19,953
I honestly want people to fight me. Cheap Thrills is probably the song I hate the most out of everything I've heard this year. The stupid children chanting in the background saying "Cheap Thrills," was one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard, and it's just not a good song. Then we have all of Bieber's songs, whose singles all sounded the same, to blame for starting this horrendous trend. Then came Closer which was number 1 forever, GOD KNOWS WHY. ****ing 21 Pilots comes around with their two singles which didn't follow the tropical sound, but sounded the exact same and were two of the most boring songs I've ever heard. Ed Sheeran also comes around with an incredibly forgettable song. I've listened to it 4 times and I honestly still couldn't play it back to you in my head. So boring and so generic. This year had great albums, no denying that, but the chart toppers were the worst I've seen in awhile. Here's a list of all the songs I hated this year in case you care. I've never had a list this long: -Closer -Stressed Out -Don't Let Me Down -Cheap Thrills -Work From Home -Love Yourself -Sorry -Cake By The Ocean -Cant Stop The Feeling -Ride -Treat You Better -Same Old Love -What Do You Mean -Cold Water -Me, Myself, and I -On My Mind -I Don't Wanna Know -Side to Side -Let Me Love You -The Greatest -Love Me Now -Black Beatles Among others. I'm not just saying this because it's a Gaga site but I REALLY wish Perfect Illusion got picked up. The trend needs to die, and I'd be here for a rock-ish trend. This trend has failed to produce any memorable songs, instead pumping out generic, catchy, happy, shallow, mediocre tunes. It's the "tropical house" trend, and it needs to stop. (Also the high pitched autotuned cat singing ) Here are some examples : Reveal hidden contents These songs have literally no substance. Although they are catchy and fun, they are just straight up generic and have no volume or depth. Don't wanna know is probably the worst offender, because it feels like Maroon 5 was so desperate for a hit they tried to recreate Cheap Thrills and even got kendrick on their track.. And I thought this trend would end in 2016 but then the first new song I hear in 2017.. PLEASE END THIS TREND Gaga please start a new trend like you did in 2008 edit : Im not saying 2016 was a bad year for music. Some of my fave albums were released this year but there were so many tropical house singles that dominated the radio I lost braincells preach

n0ne 13,105
Since when are Be Alright and Work From Home considered Tropical House? I like the songs you posted and Tropical house in general. 2016 was a great year music both in and out of top 40 music, but mostly out. "My people… need to let our bitchiness out. n0ne 13,105
The Chainsmokers can stop I have more things that I want to happen 2017, as opposed to stoping. I want the funk trend that started in 2016 to become more prominent in 2017. I want Disco to have a revival. And I want rock to become popular again. "My people… need to let our bitchiness out.
