Did the Superbowl "Resurrect" Beyonce's Popularity?

I mean she was always very popular but in 2011 she wasn't as huge as she is now, for example. 4 sold 310k copies in its first week. Then in 2013 she performed at the Superbowl and released her self-titled album, which sold around 620k in just 3 days. That's incredible for a surprise release, which wasn't promoted at all.

Did the SB help her get popular again? :oprah:

Can the same thing happen with Gaga, although she's not that GP friendly? :oprah:

Will Joanne finally get the recognition it deserves? :oprah:

Very slightly, but most of Beyoncé's resurrection in popularity was due to the surprise release of BEYONCÉ; no one saw it coming and no one was ready. The internet was freaking out thinking "how could anyone surprise release like that. How is that even possible?" We were the definition of shook, and it really helped Beyoncé gain a bigger following than she already had because it became, and still is, cool to like Beyoncé

I think it depends on the type of show she will deliver... Gaga is smart af and I hope she realizes that's such a GREAT opportunity (sorry for bad english)

Yeah the super bowl is the reason why Lemonade was probably hyped up and the announcement of the Formation World Tour

Hopefully our Gaga can get them sales, a tour announcement and a popularity resurrection.

but only our faith will get us there

Gaga claims to not want anymore popularity. Beyonce does and as such she worked her a$$ off to be where she is today. The surprise release did well because of the social media hype. Her 'overrating' by critics started here as well. She did something no other major artist did. She surprised release an entire album plus 17 videos for it. I would say, the superbowl did show the masses that she is almost a Goddess when comes to performing. People needs to stop comparing these two artists. One only wants to make music (gaga), the other want to be the biggest star in the world (beyonce).

Yeah the surprise release was a smart move, although I would never buy something without an idea of what it sounds like  I guess people just bought it out of curiosity and because it was all over the media

Beyoncé toured the world after her first Super Bowl half-time show. The album was released afterwards. Don't get it twisted! :whitney:

I watched it happen. There were a few things that resurrected her career when the decline began with 4.

Blue ivy - great relatability, connecting with "moms".

Superbowl

H&m

Glastonbury

She had a flawless run of promo from Glastonbury right up to the album release with a pregnancy between. She was everywhere. She built thirst.

It is like if gaga had done the national anthem at superbowl 2015 as well as Grammys and Oscars with C2C and some THEN put out a surprise album a week later.

It definitely helped, but I don't think it "resurrected" it. It's always been easy to like Beyonce, she just had a dip in popularity during the 4 era.

I don't think the same thing will happen with Gaga. It might give her promo but it's not going to boost her back into a hit making machine.

yes, she sold her soul to the illuminati for only 10 dollars so thats why they have to reward her so much

I distinctly remember in the summer of 2011 watching her on tv performing "Best Thing I Never Had" for a Fourth of July special and there was like average hype for her. Then, I feel like it all changed at the VMA's that year when she announced her pregnancy, that's when I saw a change in the way people perceived her. And then everything you mentioned followed and led up to the moment she dropped BEYONCÉ
