The DWUW Video would have destroyed Gaga's career....but why?

Only the fans didn't want it not just because of R. Kelly but because it's RnB inspired.

She was done in at the oscars because of Sam and Linda Perry so that's a moot point any way.

DWUW was the #1 single that got away. Easily the biggest mistake of her career.

DWUW was a video promoting rape, was shot with a rapist (?) and was directed by somebody who has allegedly been abusing.

If it was that controversial, she could've refilmed with Xtina instead

It would've been insensitive and hypocritical in regards to endorsing rape culture and all of that.

I'd imagine it was still hard for her and her team to come to grips with, because I'm sure they were proud of the video... but intentions don't always matter when it comes to effecting other people, impact does  Even if I completely understand the metaphor in the song's lyrics, title, etc. and see the power in it,  it doesnt separate it from the context of our society; the fact is that its still a video shot by an alleged almost serial rapist featuring an alleged (proven? :gum: ) sexual abuser making sexual advances towards Gaga while she is asleep :rip:

If anything, it would come off as making light of or really just being an accomplice of rape culture by not standing up to these powerful men in her life and calling them out for who they are.

Then TIHTY happened :air: Honestly, I can only hope that TIHTY was Gaga's way of making personal amends with herself for her past relationships with Terry and R Kelly and that she plans on never working with them again in any serious capacity. Anything else would be enough for the average person to think less of her, and for good reason

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

This is what I hoped and then she worked with Terry again for V 99 :poot:

It would've been iconic

her career was already dying, and she'd have done C2C regardless, so I wish it were released (but minus a few scenes lol like the fingering or whatever)

actually 2014 and 2015 would have never existed.....

It would have reaffirmed why so many turned against her during Born this Way. That she just does things to one-up her previous "antics" and does a lot for shock value. Imagine the DWUW video being released, then a few months later the paint vomit performance...I think people would be done with her.

It's 2017 almost 4 years passed but still at least five threads are made about DWUW video on daily basis :emma:

Gaga would've been fine.

A few people would watch it, but most would forget about it. "Top" hit Applause says hi! :derpga:

One video could never save ARTPOP from oblivion. :trollga:

why?

Because both R. Kelly and Terry Richardson are alleged sexual offenders. People would call her a hypocrite for first collaborating with them and then preaching TIHTY.

I think cancelling the video and ruining the era had just as much of an impact on her career as releasing the video would have.

I'm glad it wasn't released. It would have destroyed her career because she wouldn't be able to book the Oscar's and that played a huge role in restoring her image. C2C wasn't enough. Also, TIHTY would have been trashed as hypocritical.

Her actions and her filming DWUW is already hypocritical wether the video got released or not.
