KleinGa 18,177
Let's just talk about what a great pop era 1989 has been given that it was Taylor's first official pop era (yes, I know Red was pop also). Sold 1.2 million first week. "Deeply weird, feverishly emotional, wildly enthusiastic, 1989 sounds exactly like Taylor Swift, even when it sounds like nothing she's ever tried before." - Rolling Stones 76 METACRITIC It started off with a smash single: More smashes: Blank Space, Style, Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams, Out of the Woods The app released alongside Blank Space video won an Emmy for Original Interactive Program at the 2015 ceremony. (ARTPOP App who? I don't know ha) Had consistent visuals: Had a smash tour: (fully 100% all dates sold out grossing a total of $255 Million) And ended with a single appreciating the tour and the entire era: It finally solidified itself in pop music history with SEVEN GRAMMY nominations winning THREE including ALBUM OF THE YEAR AND BEST POP VOCAL ALBUM. What a great pop album accompanied by a wonderfully executed era filled with success for Taylor. This album is underrated tbh.

Can you define what makes something "under" or "over" -rated in your eyes? Because everything you've shown hear says that MILLIONS of people all over the world including old rich white men (grammys) think that this album is great. Wouldn't that make it in some eyes "overrated" instead of under? Meanwhile there were arguably much better albums that sold under 100k that year and are only ever discussed on the internet because the artists that released them don't have the fame Taylor Swift does. How I read this, your opinion is really "I think we should keep giving credit to this already highly acclaimed album; it's already recognized as being great, but I think its even greater and we should discuss it"That's a fine position to have, and you're welcome to your opinion I'm just asking for clarity's sake if that's what you really mean (For the record, 1989 was in my top 10 pop albums of that year, its great ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

We praise it to high heavens for a reason I think its unrealistic to expect any more. The general public probably remembers Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, but Taylor's star has been brighter for a while now. I'd argue 1989 is definitely more acclaimed than TFM in the eyes of the public 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Blahwhatever22 8,117
Do you know what underrated means?? Cause this album is in no way close to it. It was everywhere and was hugely successful. Underrated is not A word I would use to describe this album.
River 117,247
One think that this album can teach is how to do an amazing promotional plan.. But as an album and sound, it's very basic... I'm still laughing when she says "sick beat" in Shake It Off.. lol sorry but nah, there nothing "sick" in this basic generic beat you can find sick beat in Aura for example.. But overall, the album was nice and I liked a couple of songs.. but I'm not listening to them anymore, this album didn't leave a mark on the pop culture, it just faded away.. I don't think someone will listen to it in 10 years for example.. unlike Britney's music for example.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Lona Delery 7,214
What's up with people taking overrated albums/songs and pretending they're an underrated, hidden gem Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride
