Celebrities who we're told are hot but you think otherwise?

Beauty standards are a big deal in the media. It seems like we're constantly 'informed' from various outlets about who is attractive. And that's all very well when we agree with what they're holding up to us as attractive. But sometimes we wonder where the emphasis to label them as some sort of god/goddess comes from because all we see is someone who is vaguely attractive, average or maybe even plain. So, who are the celebrities that make you go: "Why do so many people think they're so hot?" And please note, I don't consider anyone I have listed to be ugly. Ugly is a strong word and ugly people are rare. Almost everyone on my list I'd consider 'generically attractive but nothing much else to say." And I'm a straight but bicurious girl, hence why I've listed men and women.

Men

Ryan Gosling - He just looks like generic attractiveness, that's it. Top 100 material, not top 10.

Justin Timberlake - Looks like an average guy to me, absolutely nothing special. But at least he doesn't have the awful hair he had in NSYNC.

Tom Hiddleston (to an extent) - I prefer him as Loki, with long dark hair. But off-screen, I don't know. His face looks a bit gaunt and I was surprised to find out that he was only 35. He looks more like mid-40's or older.

Daniel Craig - That pout is really off-putting and his eyes are like steel which gives a pretty unnerving vibe. Always thought he looked more like a Bond villain than Bond. And as much as he plays a good Bond, he doesn't look like Bond to me.

Calvin Harris - Even with his makeover, still doesn't thrill me. He just looks like a generic male model. A makeover that has no personality.

 

Women

Beyonce - Her possessed faces at the Superbowl (no wonder she wanted those images removed) really put me off, her current styles aren't doing anything for her, she's not as glamorous without the make up and I still find it hard to believe that she's only 35, she looks early 40's for sure.

Gigi Hadid - She looked really hot on the Victoria's Secret catwalk, but outwith that, she's not overly gorgeous. I'm not the first to say that she has a really 'doughy' face, which is odd as she's thin everywhere else. Check out her sister, Bella. Hotter, but doesn't get regarded as such.

Nicole Scherzinger - She'd be more attractive if she didn't have such an 'I love myself' attitude. She's another one who I suspect is lying about her age too.

Mila Kunis - She was voted FHM UK's Sexiest Woman literally a few weeks after those pictures emerged of her walking the dogs with no make up on. I suspect the voters didn't see them. I actually thought it was Kelly Osbourne at a quick glance. Sorry, folks, this woman's fooled you. My cousin's girlfriend, without make-up, looks like Mila with make-up on. Where's her A-list status?

Candice Brown - Winner of Great British Bake Off. A bit recent and not overly obsessed over but I was so sick of seeing so many articles written about how women hate her because she's sexy. Admittedly, she looks a bit of alright with a full face of make-up, but minimal make-up that she wore on the show (plus that awful lipstick that didn't suit her)? I wouldn't look twice. I didn't even consider her attractiveness until people started claiming she was.

I agree. She has a hot body but her face is quite chubby. Still gorgeous though. I think Bella is the hotter of the two.

I don't know, basically most of the 'hottest' actors. They're conventionally attractive but I prefer characteristic beauty.
