ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Honestly promo is a huge part of it. I think its still quite a banger that would be really popular in certain situations, its still got a hell of a lot of punch and anger and energy even if I think the song is very badly constructed and kind of reductive 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Queen1551 756
I think it's a hard song for most people (GP) to get into on the first listen. I think the radio promo would've been good if it were a song that more people had a positive reception to.
takemetovenus 4,826
Promo and it's not what people were expecting for a comeback single

Born To Slay 10,996
No promo, worst video of her career and waiting to long for a comeback. Now if she premiered it at the VMAs a few weeks early with an epic performance and performed a few other times and gave it a kick ass music video, then it would've been a hit. bliaz 897
Bad song, boring video, no promo... RIP PI English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes
Gagz 2,579
It should've been a hit
RochestrMonstr 3,216
It wasn't radio-friendly, but Gaga has made hits before out of non radio-friendly music. The difference was Perfect Illusion had no major promotion, which could have made a difference.
Green Detox 2,779
She did not even bother performing the song on this shows. Like wth. Imagine if she did, imagine the boost of the sales.
Batwings 12,885
I'm probably just echoing what other people have said, but... 1. Lack of promo -- It's pretty obvious at this point that Gaga wanted A-YO as the lead single, but Interscope picked PI, and I part of me feels like Gaga's heart just wasn't invested in trying to make PI a smash. 2. It's a grower. For a first single, you need an instant bop. 3. Gaga used farm fresh eggs and crops for her payola, and radio stations got pissed. Blahwhatever22 8,117
No promo for starters, She only did radio appearances and no televised performances. Her video was really basic and not something I would say is rewatchable. The song itself just didn't appeal to the gp, It's very loud and repetitive and took to long for it to grow on people. JDi 1,495
it sounds like the biggest song of the century but it also sounds claustrophobic and theatrical. it's the ultimate Gaga challenge. let the gayness and uncool drama be and you'll get rock n roll. basically, humans still fear symbols and remain religiously unchallenged. what else is new?
