Is it about discipline in rehearsing and healthy lifestyle? Is it a lot of chance? How are your vocals naturally affected by age? I still love and deeply respect Mariah's voice no matter what, but did she cause her own voice to go or is it just something that happens sometimes? Maybe because she would have had to sing live outdoors just before midnight in freezing cold weather? Her Notes were C5 are very strained last year. Both have been pregnant, but Mariah (additional to her two miscarriages) got affected differently by it. Mariah had a different tone in the beginning of her career and Celine's Tone didn't get that affected by Pregnancy etc. Mariah Carey also has nodules since she's been a girl, which are the 'gift' that makes her sing in whistle register easier but also can damage the Voice if used too often (that's why she needs 2 days between her concerts to rest).
