Freedom of Religion. If one religion wants it, you have to give it to all of them, or none of you get it.

Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤

Nobody should have to come on a public forum and defend their stigmatized religion to people who are uniformed. If you want to criticize and judge you should at least make an effort to do a little reading up on the subject.

Unfortunately my religion is plagued with misinformation, stigmas, and a horrible public image (thanks in small part to AB...there have historically been many unfavorable public figures...Aleister Crowley...etc.). It's not our job as witches to inform everyone about our practice (there are many resources on the subject) and many of us are very private about it because of these misunderstandings and "witch-hunts".

Lost interest in this thread/topic when the Vegans started getting involved....

God, they're so annoying for caring about animal rights, morals and the environment. I just want to enjoy chewing on dead animals in peace without having them remind me about the morality or reality behind it. Why would they even think of coming into a thread that was triggered by an event involving animal abuse??

I don't even know what this thread is about anymore. Witches? Vegans? Azealia? Dancin' in Circles? WHAT DO I DO?

I appreciate vegans and their strong beliefs. I recognize the importance of standing up for something and having a voice. BUT I'm disappointed though that the conversation somehow veered away from witchcraft to an incredible confusing conversation about whether plants have feelings and who's to blame for "killing" all the plants.

It was entertaining AF tho...

You can care for animal rights and not be vegan. They are not mutually exclusive. But no I eat cow there for I don't believe in the welfare of animals or the planet and the children ect.... ect.... and so forth. Thanks for your revelation. I'm sure it wasn't wasted on me and I will be saved from damnation now that I see the error of my ways and committed to fighting the good fight against the carnavors .

Comparing the backlash against Banks to to the witch trials of Salem is wildly ignorant. Twenty people were hanged because of a hysteria rooted in puritanical fanaticism and land rights, not by concern over animal welfare. Azealia Banks is receiving criticism on social media and blogs, no one is piling stones on her chest until her lungs collapse.

The Thanksgiving meal comparison is strange too. We know that consuming food fuels your body in a measurably positive way. We know that ritual animal sacrifice does not effect your career in a measurably positive way. One is science the other is superstition. Even if you set that fact aside, compare the experience of a ritual sacrifice to the experience of preparing an average Thanksgiving meal.

Bank's wall and floor were caked with rotted flesh, blood, and feathers. For three years she killed animals in a confined space, not bothering to clean up afterwards. An electric sandblaster was required to scrape the thick layer of decomposing animal remains off her floor. Now compare that to a woman who goes to a supermarket before Thanksgiving and buys a frozen, clean, turkey which only requires her to put it in a pan and cook. Do you not think there is a fundamental difference in the mental state of those two women?

It's disturbing.

We don't have to respect each and every religion

THIS.

Certain things are not respectable, and resorting to "magic" to literally ruin someone else's life (which is what Azealia attempted through witchcraft), is one of them.

Not to mention is really stupid, #BYE :nails:

How is this topic debatable?

Why are we coddling someone who believes brutally maiming fowls in an effort to appease some hocus pocus dwellers is ok as long she simply says it's her religion?

I mean look at the state of her career, something is obviously not working right.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Reminds of when people say stuff like"I love gay people, but I just think marriage should be between a man and a woman and seeing two guys kissing grosses me out."

I guess they are capable of caring, but clearly not enough. I used to love eating meat and found vegans annoying as **** while believing I was an animal rights supporter/environmentalist, but then I realized how hypocritical I was. If you really care enough about animals and the environment, then you wouldn't be paying people to kill animals and support industries that are wreaking havoc on the planet.

If she ate the chickens that would be a different story. Eating a certain food for religion is a lot different than killing innocent animals for the sole purpose of them dying, its senseless

How can you call yourself a Gaga fan when she sacrificed koji and asia for Joanne first week sales??

That's not how freedom of religion works.

Freedom of Religion, just like freedom of speech, protects you from the government and other bigger forces but it doesn't protect you from other people's opinions.

You can protect yourself from being forced to take off your religious attire to take a driver's license picture but you can't stop people from making fun of you.
