Edonis 28,950
um no. However, I do think it would be silly if she made shallow dance-pop, or tracks that lack any substance, bur fortunately that has never really been her thing so I have no worries about that. I am content with Joanne and it's sound; it works for the album and intention and is a nice glimpse at Gaga's numerous talents in the field of music. I hate to break your heart, since you seem to look back in Gaga's 4/5 past solo projects with disdain (or at least the genre), but she will more than likely return to the genre completely at some point. Songs like John Wayne, Dancin' in Circles, even Perfect Illusion show that her love of electronic and dance pop music has never left and will continue to greatly influence her musical career. As for your tragic dismissal of an entire genre due to your continuous meltdowns, I strongly suggest you humble yourself and get educated on the genre of electronic music and dance pop in general. It is not a field guilded by girls in bikinis and frat bros who use looper on the internet to make deadend beats. Electronic music will always exist whether Gaga is involved in it or not, and to casually brush the genre aside due to your assessment of current radio sounds is slightly offensive and insanely ignorant. Go look at the pioneers of the genre, how it originally stemmed from rock, disco (which spawned in tandem with the genre), funk, R&B, etc. before you snobbishly act like electronic and dancepop music is not in your taste since that's not what Gaga is currently focused on at the moment. I'm sure this forum knows fool well that if Joanne was composed of dance pop music or the sound the original LG5 was going to be like, you'd be licking its hole and defending just as much as you defend her current career and artistic decisions. This has more to do with you being a "real fan" who loves everything Gaga does and will always find no fault in her art as opposed to "fake fans" whom utilize their critical thinking skills and ability to assess a situation and give an actual honest opinion on her work over anything else. Set your priorities and straight and educate yourself in the vast realm of music. Thank you. Rant over.
StarryNight 10,106
That would be the same if someone said to MJ back in the 80s: stop riding this obnoxious wave of synth driven, groovy music make some "real" quality music... This electronic/dance/pop type of music is popular now but that doesn't mean that you can't make great album in that style, the most recent example is Starboy. beverlyhills 287
No it wouldn't have been silly, she's a pop star that makes... well made (unfortunately) great pop/dance songs. Would you call Poker Face and Bad Romance obnoxious? I think you're the one obnoxious. I like Joanne but even compared to ARTPOP it's average. Pop music can be innovative and her past work proves that, maybe it's time to get up off Gaga's ****. ~ eshalala cundala get up off those d!cks ~
just another gay 836
It depends how she takes on it. Coz I will be very disappointed if she suddenly be all glam and totally throw away the "authenticity" brand she has been building the past 2 years. ( If so it kinda means the whole Joanne thing is just fake tactics then I will not appreciate her as a person) Btw is EDM still that big now? Hardly recall any EDM hits this year except chainsmokers...most of them seem to be Hip Hop, trip, R&B.
