I'm sorry but people can still die from AIDS. George Michael refused to get a HIV test for years, if he didn't take medication to stop it progressing his immune system would have worsened.

You never actually heard him saying this, did you? Are you talking about this tabloid bs?

.....

"George says he does not believe in tests," Ross Wilson, the show's producer tells The Sun.

"He says he finds the wait for results too harrowing and that he hasn't had a test since at least 2004 due to his fears it might be positive."

....

The show never aired.

And George replied:

“I have to explain, Stephen did nothing directly but his producer said something publicly that was such a dreadful lie I thought about legal action,” the pop star posted.

“I was just terribly hurt that yet another gay man seemed happy to let me hang out to dry for the entertainment of homophobes.”

I think the tragedy is that he was so young. 53 is no age.

Whether you see him as a reluctant gay icon or not a gay icon at all you can't deny that he was a musical legend. I've never been too involved in his music but his impact is definitely undeniable.

That J

This news broke my heart last night.  I remember Wham but it was his debut solo album Faith that did me in. It was a MASSIVE success and the females were falling out seeing him in his leather jacket standing at that jukebox. His second solo album produced a HUGE hit, "Freedom" which was a middle finger to the industry and more but it was always my personal inspiration song as a 12 year old gay boy very much hidden because ya just didn't come out in suburbia those days. But that song always stayed with me and when I came out at 19, I blasted that song loud as it could get in my car...after a huge family/friend gathering where my freedom got real!!!  He was truthfully a soul singer. Songs like "Praying For Time" and the song I posted as a tribute on FB, "Jesus To A Child" are mind blowing in their beauty. He held his own in duets with the finest like Elton John, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin...among others. He had been working on a documentary titled "Freedom" to be released in March to coincide with the deluxe re-release of his classic second solo album "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1".  The album will be released but I hope the doc will as well. Who knew he was basically preparing his own tribute?!  Sorry for the long post but he was such an inspiration.  It's been said he died of heart disease which can happen at any age. Everything will come out eventually as it does but I don't give a crap about how he died, I'm just happy he lived.

Probably because this was 4 years after his arrest scandal, same year he had anti Bush video out, so I think this single didn't even chart in the US?

I hate Khan, but this video is amazing.

I  loved all GMs videos, great visuals.

No one dies from AIDS anymore, unless you're in Africa or some third world nation with out access to medicine. Magic Johnson has had AIDS since 1991. He has lived more years with AIDS  than some people on this forum have been alive. But your second suspicion of Cancer is more than likely correct. I doubt it was drugs. Usually a massive coranary or heart failure is followed by news of an overdose. So it doesn't seem like it was drugs.

His heart could have been weakened by years of drug use taking a toll on his body, not necessarily having to be that night an overdose.  There's articles on how heavy drug use over the years affects your heart in a myriad of ways  He was a heavy smoker all his life which contributes to many health problems.  But I doubt it was cancer.  They would have said he passed away from cancer.

No one will know until an autopsy, blood work.   It's all speculation until then.

Yes, true.

I'm not saying that he never used drugs, just that IMO he wasn't that night. But who knows it's all just speculation at this point. I just don't like people automatically assuming it's AIDS. The only reason for that assumption would be because he is gay and I thought we were years beyond connecting AIDS with gays.
