Why Didn't 'Judas' Hit Harder?

Judas is the second single off of the most revolutionary album of this decade: Born This Way. :classy:

It has 300~ million views on VEVO, and it's considered as the most/one of the most shocking songs of all time.

It used to be all over the radio, and it even got a VMA nomination!

How is it possible that it didn't sell more and didn't chart higher ?

Because people are afraid of anything remotely religious the views on the video are probably so high from people wanting to see the controversy surrounding it

Bradley

There was intense controversy over its religious themes and how Gaga was portrayed as loving the man who betrayed Jesus, which she explained off as a metaphor.

Christian audience probably refrained from supporting or purchasing the song, not to mention its aggressive dance-pop nature isn't quite the taste of everyone, though which I love very much.

You know, my grand parents were 100% christian people, they used to go to the church every Sunday... but they were OK with Judas

It didn't achieve the sales and chart success it deserved and it's an absolute travesty.

Religious controversy...

But what about Alejandro? The controversy was almost the same, and it's still one of the biggest hits in history. It will never die. Everybody knows and loves it.

It's one of my favourite singles and her best video. One of the most controversial though? Not even. Like a prayer is 100X more controversial and it still hit #1.

If it's not the most, it's clearly the 2nd most. It's not MY statement. This is from what I read in famous music mags. The impact was huge.
