The Surrealist 27,470
"One problem I have with Hollywood women (or men) making such ignorant statements [about beauty and aging] is that these individuals actually [send] a seriously distorted message to women and young girls. Suggesting that we can erase age and numbers tells teenage girls that looking young and pretty is one’s most important calling card in life, even though we know that materialistic possessions (including plastic surgeries!) do not necessarily lead to happiness. From a psychological perspective, [it is] both narcissistic and grandiose. It makes sense that movie stars develop some level of these pathological personality traits (if they weren’t already there pre-Hollywood)." Source: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/insight-is-2020/201308/why-hollywood-actresses-are-narcissistic-beauty-obsessed Let's grab another opinion from Gaga: On whether she considers herself to be beautiful: “Not conventionally beautiful. If there was some sort of mathematical equation for beauty, I don’t know if I would be the algorithm. I’ve always been OK with that. I’m not a supermodel. That’s not what I do. What I do is music. I want my fans to feel the way I do, to know what they have to offer is just as important, more important, than what’s happening on the outside.” She said at the Glamour Awards: "In order to help young people to understand that they don't have to put so much pressure on themselves to look so perfect all the time they should know that a whole lot of money and time went into that shoot" But that all went to trash as she is no longer supporting this idea. Why doesn't anyone finally change the perspective on beauty standards in Hollywood? It's simple. Because no one wants "ugly" people. And that's bullsh*t. Show some balls and start accepting yourself. Because you slay and you sure don't want to look like another person, because that would be boring. Everybody is starting to look the same and it's terrifying. We reached the point where looking good is better than looking "original" and a human being. Nobody cares if actors/actresses are talented anymore as long as they look "good". We need someone who shifts this perspective of beauty in Hollywood as soon as possible, because I'm tired of seeing emotionless models on my screen. I want to see real people. prince 4,688
In all honesty if she wanted work done to look really beautiful she could have got it done along time ago, she's never been conventionally pretty and she still isn't now, she has an unusual beauty about her. I think her work is more about suiting the mould of where she feels in her career and life, her doctor said in a video that she wanted work done for AHS and the Countess and after that she wanted work done to make herself look more mature to match her style of music and where she feels in her life. I honestly have no issue with plastic surgery or changing your features to look good, the problem is people denying it; like Gaga said at the Glamour awards people need to know that things take time and money. If any one of my friends and/or family said "I want work done to look like this celeb" then i'd slap the **** out of them because that's so dumb and almost archaic. A celeb does what they want for themselves and they shouldn't have to think about their audience and how they would react to this, fame is a bi-product of their talent or their business and if someone looks at them as an idol then in all honesty that is on them not on the celeb. Gaga has talked SO much about beauty and standards of beauty and these statements aren't irrelevant because she has filler and botox. Her statements of beauty are what we should view and listen to, how she views herself and what she does with her body is her issue and her topic not ours

Anastasia 6,093
People are going to get upset, but this is an important topic. Its not just young girls that are in danger, the beauty standards of men are rising every year as well, and so are eating disorders, steroid use, cosmetic surgeries, etc. I am fine with people sculpting their bodies, I dye my hair, wear makeup, and I spend a lot of money on hair removal and skin care, but I think this conversation needs to be talked about more to make sure people are doing it for the right reasons. There's a thin line between self expression and self hatred when it comes to changing your looks, and I wish there were more pressure put on the doctors who perform these procedures to check in with their patient's mental health and how they see themselves, but its always about the money. Clip 5,100
I agree! I also need to say that I HATE the current makeup trends. People are caking up their face more than ever (check out Okaylaa's chanel) with all this contouring thing. It looks horrible imo. I also feel like people who contour are "cheating" because they're drawing a different face with a different bone structure on top of their real faces. The point of makeup is to enhance your features, not to draw a new face. I'm okay with people using a little bronzer or highlighting some areas, though. I'm so sick of this "Instagram baddie" kind of look Spoiler

There's people that are not physically atractive, and you could say that they are beautiful because they exist, or that they are beautiful inside, but that's not true. There are people with horrible personalities too. And that makes some people truly not beautiful
