ANVEEROY 61,207
Oh lord! Too much criticism! I can not take it! If gaga watching this she would be very sad! Don't Complain, please! She is an artist and she had the right to anything she wanted to do. Now if she wanted to be plain and simple. Fine! It's her own choice. In some point of your life everyone tries to tone down. Maybe she is now in 30's, she is an established actress. Maybe she wants to explore different things. Let her do that! She is not just a POP star/ entertainer anymore. gagzus 15,865
Do you guys actually think like this or do you just want attention? Because some of these threads are utterly ridiculous it's not that deep she's already stated why she has changed "it's just where I am right now" and I'm not even gonna comment on how most of you guys attack artists for having no evolution but attack gaga for changing all the time... yikes Shes dealt with the good and bad, she went from being the biggest artist to the biggest target and she's grown up over the last almost 10 years. Another thing I never get; Gaga's fashion has been a mix of glamorous and avant gaurde but the fashion everyone expects of her is the 9 months worth of fashion she had mid 2010-early 2011 when she was at her peak of popularity and the music they expect is from her peak too. Everything always seems to be based from us just wanting her to be popular, we only started this attitude AFTER the GP and haters started saying she's gone basic etc... Vergil 2,296
Well, she can do what she wants but she can't expect us to love it if what made her different from the rest was the mix between theater and music.

She is not just a POP star/ entertainer anymore. That's what artists are signed up for, being criticized. Just like what she said in the interview, now she's belong the world in some way. She's can do whatever the crap she can come up with, we can judge it whatever we like. We either like it or hate it. That's how this is. She can't be praised all the time, doesn't work like that. If she's being sad because people didn't like what she put her heart out into, and she need to move on and try to come up with something better, not something worse. People are entitled to not like it. Even truth hurt sometimes, but she needs to listen to them, that's how people learn and grow.
Swando 300
3 hours ago, Funkymonkey said: Not really. Me as an artist: Yes maybe sometimes I feel bad with criticism. But I would NEVERRRRRRR filter/change/basic my work just so a critic is happy. It really IS ahout honouring your passion and never give in to what people say. yeah, and how did you come to be able to say that to yourself? Through growth. We all get different tools throughout our lives. Not all of them are the same, and not all of them lasts forever. Gaga has always been changing her work "slightly" to suit the larger population. It's why she was able to get through to the pop scene. It's clear that she hasn't truly made peace with her demons yet, even though she's constantly trying to. Problem is that she's in a weak spot right now, and that creates doubt in her. Does that make her less of an artist, no. But commercial-artistry is a balance. If you don't take in criticism, you won't be commercial. If you take in too much criticism, your creativity will begin to decay, and you'll doubt your work. Add that with Gaga's depression and it should be easy to see why her work isn't as "grand" as it used to be.
RochestrMonstr 3,199
I think ARTPOP was more of an overcorrection to the backlash from Born This Way. People tend to forget about the backlash from the BTW era, probably because of the high (though front-loaded) sales. But BTW's darkness and "strange" themes, combined with her overexposure at that point, made a lot of people complain. So Gaga brought in the "lack of maturity", as she called it, on ARTPOP. This, of course, resulted in even more backlash than before. Joanne, I feel, is a departure to something else completely. Maybe she just realized people were going to complain no matter what, so she moved away from what people expected of her and to what she wanted to do. She loves this record, loves talking about it, loves performing it, and seems more human than ever. It's obviously not going to please everyone, and the girl doesn't care. If she's not able to serve us an actual album with good visuals, then she can feel free to quit her career. It's just too much that we went through all of her transitions, Cheek to Cheek, Acting & etc, and what did we geet, old & used outtakes. If she wanted to show us her personal side (although i don't agree) personal thing needs to stay personal, she could've released the Terry/Gaga documentary, that she never put out. At this point she just proves how insecure she is, changing genres on every album, she contradicts herself all the time. You're acting so entitled and spoiled right now. All of you in this thread. You wanted a new Gaga pop album and you got it. God forbid Gaga wants to do something different than what people expect her to do; THAT IS WHAT SHE HAS ALWAYS DONE! These songs are reminiscent of pre-The Fame Gaga, and her going back to her roots as Stefani is NOT a bad thing! People need to expand their taste in music smh... StarstruckIllusion 52,604
Her creativity? Idk. But it really did ruin the 2009-11 Gaga-u know, at her prime. ARTPOP suicided off a cliff & took Gaga with her-I can't respect the era bc of that.

warhol killah 8,674
Just because she does not wear the things she wore before and/or amaze us visually like she did before, it doesn't mean that she's not creative anymore. If we see this avant garde kind of person everyday since 2008, that person is lacking creativity, because they keep doing/acting the same **** over and over again. Gaga is versitile. She is "variety". She is "difference". Every era has its own style and we are now in the stripped down, simple era. An artist, for me, can adjust and can do art outside the box. I'll admit, I did dislike the video when I first watched it, but after watching it again, she really wants to connect with the fans obvs through a simple video. So, that's what she did, white backdrop, backstage scenes and a pink hat. That is Joanne. warhol killer ✴ GAGA¹⁵
