She needed a song to revive the era. G.U.Y was definately not the right song to do that. The beat is way to agressive and the chorus to repetitieve. I do like all those songs, but they are not radio friendly. Oh and those who are coming for people who said MR was the best single choice, it still is. No other song, except maybe Joanne, could've stayed two weeks in the top 10 on iTunes without airplay or streaming. No one could've known that they wouldn't add the song to spotify playlists or give her some good radio AirPlay. People who think DH, DIC or JW could've pulled that off after PI flopped are a bit delusional imo Kinda false and true at the same time Judas did flop because of easter backlash. If Judas flopped (in the US only, because it was a minor hit everywhere else) because of being loud and agressive, then why You and I was a hit, a couple of months after? Imagine TEOG as a 2nd single, then Judas as 3rd. All of them would have been huge hits. MTN is on the same calibre as TEOG and Y&I. If both of them were hits, then why MTN flopped? Just because she was overexposed; another song would have flopped as well. Remember Chris Booker, that guy who told in 2011 that they were snubbing her because she was getting too overexposed? Look for it. About G.U.Y., no song can revive an era as dead as ARTPOP, which was dead since late december, three months after. A better choice than G.U.Y.? Gypsy, maybe.
