Okay guys I have been talking to a friend, and I was also part of the meltdown who was extremely ranty and disappointed with the music video. I was the one of the worst ones attacking her--but hear me out--I think this is beneficial in helping everyone cope and cool down.

I had a conversation with a friend and this is how it went:

ME: Yeah I low key honestly wish she wasn't as independent and was more controlled and commercial like Ari or other pop girls, where they actually get real directors and have high expectations. 

FRIEND: I think she doesn't want that though, I think it's really anxiety provoking for her ? I think she wants sanity over her career ?

This really struck a chord with me. We can't be selfish as fans because her emotional well-being is at stake. Sure, the video is underwhelming, but that's because I feel like she's currently exhausted with going through a giant production workflow on a music video. I'm a filmmaker in the industry, I understand. It's a rigorous 3-5 day process with heavy budgeting, pre-production, crew, and energy which I feel makes her too anxious at the moment. 

So go back and watch the Million Reasons video again. 

Go see the Gaga that is stripped down in front of the mirror, happy to be filmed by a small intimate crew on a small camera, be happy for the girl that has now gotten her life back together. We need to put aside our personal selfishness for the image we want Gaga to fit in.

I'm sorry.....but Gaga said she wanted to maybe "relate to that single mom/girl in middle America who isn't rich and just needs hope"

 

Gaga gets paid tens of millions of dollars a year and she has  since 2012 made four music videos. 

Single women in middle America take care of multiple kids, deal with abusive husbands/ex husbands, make ****ing $7.50 an hour, work 50 hours a week to put ramen noodle on the table and probably deal with just as much/if not more anxiety than Gaga does. 

 

If you want to relate to/empower middle American women Gaga, you need to talk about adversity and strength, authentic vulnerability, and put in the damn effort. I don't deny Gaga has stress, but this fanbase has lost their **** if they think they can excuse Gaga because of "anxiety".

 

Lots of women have anxiety. But they still clock in and bust their asses every day.

That's a really good point.

It was in another thread when a user said (jokingly? not sure) that she should go back to Troy, and that's when I realized that I was kind of overreacting.

Like, yeah, I still hate the video, but I'd rather she have her creative freedom and happiness and health and overall welfare rather than a nicer video.

LOVE the video! I think the reason why most monsters don't care for it is because we have seen her this vulnerable before so it's not as personal to us as it is to the GP.  Watch it again and really focus on her state of mind.  Your heart will break for her.  Almost cried watching it again a few hours later. I love you Gaga!

This. She has a way easier life than the vast majority of mankind (even in the developed world). There's no excuse for her to take this long to release a MV and deliver such lackluster imagery.

Well, celebrity life is incredibly stressful lets not downplay it.

 

Still tho. A vid like this couldnt have taken much work in comparison to most music videos. The amount of time taken to release this... I just dont get it

 

Im not even upset that its simple. If thats what Gaga wanted to do for the video thats fine

 

But even the editing was quite bad. Like when your lips are moving out of sync with the music for example... nnnnnnnn thats just so cringeworthy 😓😓😓😓😓
