Alan Thicke, an actor best-known for helping set a template for parenting ideals in the ’80s sitcom “Growing Pains,” has died of a heart attack. He was 69.

His death was confirmed with the Times on Tuesday evening by the publicist of his son, pop-soul singer Robin Thicke.

A songwriter and producer during his career in addition to being an actor and presenter, the Canadian-born Thicke had continued to appear in TV roles up through this year, including recent appearances on NBC’s drama “This Is Us” and Netflix’s “Fuller House.”

“Season 2 Fuller House looking good,” read a post on Thicke’s Twitter feed from three hours ago. “I even like the ones I’m not in! #fullerhouse.”

A full obituary will follow.

Rest in peace :(

Can we trade for his TV son Kirk Cameron instead? :sure:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

May he rest in peace.

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

LOVED him on Growing Pains. Used to watch it in Re-Runs in the late 90's. It was on Disney Channel then.

Interested to hear what Joanne, Tracey Gold, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kirk Cameron have to say

I just watched his episode of fuller house yesterday and he looked great. Shocking. Heart attacks are a terrifying and sudden thing, I wish his family the best right now. Growing Pains was my show back in the day.
