That song had the second-longest number one reign in UK chart history with streams keeping it at the top spot week after week (according to statistics, under the old sales-based system, he would have only had 3 or 4 weeks, tops). A boring, bland song of nothingness. It didn't even get promoted here, so I'm clueless as to why it held the public's interest for so long. And still is, to an extent. To be honest, slowed-down acoustic versions of this song are better than the original. They were actually the way I first ever heard this song and I thought: "Wow, this might actually be a good Drake song," then I heard the official version and was like: "Oh..." I also think Work was a huge contender. I can't understand why a song with nonsensical mumbling and bored vocals that you can't even dance to gained any sort of traction. Sorry and Can't Stop The Feeling would also rate very highly, although Sorry was more of a 2015 hit. I would also add in almost every Beyonce song from Lemonade (the majority of which will likely be forgotten in the next few months, just like her last album's songs were). Did Closer hang around too long? Of course, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. I quite like the lyrics, especially the chorus, it's just that awful beat that hits after the chorus that puts me right off. But I heard a version of it the other day with a different beat and it improved the song massively. I think it's more the people who sing it that we have a problem with.
