Monster2015 1,117
People don't understand that there are two types of collaborators. Ones like Rihanna and Britney that get a song handed to them, records vocals, and puts it on the album. And then there are ones like Beyoncé and Adele who work hands on with the person that gives them the song by changing what it originally sounded like to fit what they want such as lyrics, production, melody, or even adding something. So tell me which one do you prefer? Because 80% of musicians in this industry collaborate one way or another.

Thomas P 18,479
Ooh she's exposed lol. I have my lemonade cd with me right now and literally all of there are credited in the songs. Read reviews by critics and they talk about these samples too. It's not a big deal, and credit is given where it's deserved..... I think some of you are just looking for reasons to bash her, because I seriously think that Beyoncé might be the new most hated female singer on this site. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
Decodekid 28,468
I mean Beyoncé doesn't produce or write her music so is not her fault somehow Lemonade is a good album Long Live Gretchen

monsterdino 31,997
And this is why I think she is overrated, there's no artistry in her work there's no creativity. People just write for her and she just sings the songs. For me she is just a singer and a dancer NOT an artist.

They literally have the song written and produced given to them, and they read it off and record it. Beyoncé changes everything. The songs production is completely different, and so are the lyrics. The writer for daddy Lessons said she changed the song completely to fit the narrative of the story. Hell even this interview with mike will made it talking about Formation makes her seem like the main writer for everything: Im not going to say much more than this, because @Bebe covered everything, but I will say that there is a difference between her and gaga, but even gaga has people who help her and give her songs that she just changes. But I'm not talking about Rihanna and Britney am I tho? Britney doesn't even sing, but they are not praised at all. Beyonce is at that level of praise that becomes annoying, I'm not saying she is worse than Brit and Riri not at all. I'm just saying that she doesn't deserve so much praise when she doesn't even write or produce her songs. Yes there's people that help Gaga with her music, but in Beyonce's case is the opposite Beyonce helps people to create her music.

I don't think anyone gave Rihanna the songs from ANTi already done and she just recorded vocals. Most of them are really not commercial and are exactly the type of music Rihanna likes to do for fun, I don't think anyone made ''Consideration'' or ''Higher'' for her I See You
doppelganger 3,953
There's sampling a song that inspires you and making it your own. When Mariah sampled Tom Tom Club, it was generally known that the beats were sampled and a new melody was written over them. And then there's an obvious lack of original ideas, and hoping people didn't realise you've Frankensteined and repackaged old songs, with nothing new or original to contribute

I don't care if her team credited the samples, why are so many samples even necessary for JUST one song? That's what drives me nuts. Why couldn't they come up with more original material? For me it shows laziness and lack of integrity towards the work. Just my opinion. One sample was fine like Gaga did with Hey Girl but a bunch in one single track... in my opinion, is pretty ridiculous. Might as well call it a cover mash-up album. And you guys that are complaining that Gaga doesn't collaborate enough... Joanne is her most collaborated album. She is trying, we all know that there aren't many people that have the same mentality as Gaga for her to work with. She's also pretty dominant and controlling when it comes to her work. And she only works with people who have that specific sound that will fit with the album that she's working on.. that narrows it down a lot. Besides.. she's overflowing with ideas of her own... so one sample's enough for her.
