AlexanderMagno 10,746
SO FAR, flop. Sorry, this was Gaga's big comeback for everyone. Even her fans were waiting for new music that would grab their attention. The music direction is appreciated, but not that inventive. It got too many mixed reviews. And commercially, not a success. Everyone who's saying she's selling good are comparing an A list pop star with lesser ones. That's how far we are. No single hits in any way, and her "viral" moments last a week... But, it can be saved. I think.
YeehawKylie 7,817
Don't understand how it's a flop. Solid sales, great performances, rave reviews. Do people think an album needs high charting singles to be successful? Pro-tip: it doesn't.
retrosexual123 855
It has been an UNAPOLOGETIC FLOP meaning that Gaga is happy not chasing hits, making videos or getting viral hits. She is not about these things anymore and the way Joanne has panned out it reflects it... it hasn't sold millions of copies, had hits or viral moments because Gaga hasn't wanted that. It may not be what we (I) wanted but it is what gaga wants, it seems... it's all very good but i dont see gaga having another hit anytime soon... this era has established her as 'in the public eye' but not a hit maker anymore... Lumi 3,512
Success. Nobody really expected Joanne to have that TFM 2.0 level of success. If anything we were hopíng it would be better than ARTPOP. The fact she's outselling pop girls like Ariana and Sia goes to show that Gaga is still popular even with two/three "flop" singles. People are buying her record and enjoying it while she's still being authentic, I call that a huge success! underneath the pine
ShockPop 7,747
It is selling very well for the current climate in record sales. C2C didn't fix her reputation. This album is the surgery to fix the damage. C2C was diagnosis.

MarryTheKnight 2,181
In terms of sales it is a success. In terms of radio plays, streaming, singles, music videos, it is a complete fail. In terms of aesthetic it is a success. In terms of critical reception it is very mixed, leaning towards flop. In terms of my personal opinion on the sound it is a flop. Joanne is very contrived and she seems to be trying hard to release a personal album but misses the mark completely. The lyrics in the title track and Angel Down attempt to convey deep, emotional trauma and meaning, but instead use commonplace, nonchalant and lazy lyricism. The way she describes the pain her and her father feel about the loss of her aunt is not conveyed in the song whatsoever, she just uses cliche, cookie cut terms for death. I think she has lost her star quality and given up on her mission to change the world one sequin at a time.

Zaza 873
Its no 1989 but I actually like alot of the album and its selling fine. Its no huge blockbuster like TFM but it did better than ARTPOP. I kinda wish we got more than 13 tracks tho. Makes me wonder why after 3 long years why so few? I wish she'd pull a re release and add 4-5 tracks, she's sitting on a ton of finished songs and demos. I would LOVE to hear what she has and also hear Princess Die studio version. spread love and peace with every intention. Cherish everything u have.
