"Me Too" was so annoying. :saladga: I guess people just got bored of her self-loving trademark, after doing it on and on it came off as narcissistic and full of herself.

And she has a grammy :sharon: I was a fan but lately she was so full of herself it turned me off.

I never understood this criticism. Being confident /=/ narcissism

Pacify Him

I'd rather listen to her than other main pop girls tbh :madge: at least her songs are fun to bop to :music:

I’m getting on your nerves

I meant different for a white girl.  Like Iggy doing rap and Meghan doing doo-wop and R&B.  Also Gaga lasted a lot longer than them.

Gaga still lasts, she's just in her indie era and was in her jazz/tributes era for three years :derpga:

I'm not talking about the music. "Me Too" is a self loving anthem and I love it. I'm talking about her personallity and how she portrayed herself on interviews.

Kindness rules all.

She's the blond Carly.

No disrespect to Meghan, but Carly's music is much better.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Delusional Aura

I think Gaga was the last popstar to go huge during her debut. It's interesting to see if someone will be the next gaga in terms of stardom.

I never understood the hype for this girl but I guess she was just a trend. I only know about All About That Bass and that's because they play it at the gym of course I put my earpods on and listen to my own music because I can't stand her voice, I don't know about the rest of her discography.

This happens to a lot of artists, overexposure can sometimes be bad, especially if you don't do something out of the box.

"If I was you I'd wanna be me too" is quite clearly a display of narcissism though. Whether in jest or not, it is. Same as the general message of AATB - big/curvy girls are better and skinny "bitches" are lesser.

Self-love and confidence is done right in something like Born This Way. You shouldn't have to put other people down to feel empowered and confident, and that's quite literally what Meghan does in those two songs.

I think there was just so much hype around her that the public realised wasn't justified when they bought her debut album. It got overwhelmingly mixed reviews, every single after AATB was nowhere near as big a hit or as memorable (top 10's don't mean that your song made an impact or will be remembered) and her tour wasn't big. It was clear her fanbase was quite small and was just supporting her due to her one big hit. I think her label wasn't going to make her put out an album when she did but AATB was such a success that she was encouraged to push out an album quickly, as evidenced by the fact that it's extremely short and contains all the tracks from her previous EP. An interlude even had to be added to desperately pad it out and there was a good amount of extra tracks on the deluxe edition to encourage people to shell out more money to get more tracks. Basically, a lot of stock was put into someone who was clearly destined to be a one hit wonder. She also changed her music style a lot, aiming for a sexier image that she couldn't pull off, became a pop/urban hybrid and lost most of the identity that made her a success to begin with. I'm not the biggest fan of her debut but her image was more natural, the doowop style suited her and she seemed to be very genuine in her output. With Thank You, it was like she was trying to be someone she wasn't to get more success. And it didn't help that she continued with her 'I'm amazing' shtick which annoyed a lot of people after one song, became completely intolerable after several songs.

I have to say, though, I felt quite sorry for her after Better flopped. I have never seen a music video from an artist with over 7 million subscribers that got such low views and likes in all my life. There are artists with a lot less subscribers, a lot less sales, no hits at all and no promo that can release a music video and gets a couple million views per day and an endless stream of likes. Melanie Martinez is one of them. She just put out a video a week ago and it already has over 9 million views, over 600k likes. Her one released 3 weeks beforehand has over 20 million views and over 700k likes. So, I don't understand how Meghan, with all her success and ease of creating multi million viewed videos, can put out a new video and have it fail to make any sort of impact, even among her own fans. This doesn't bode well for her future in the industry. And considering the video aimed for a deep, sad, mature message but got rejected, it looks like she'll suffer to make more serious songs in the future as people are clearly not here for it.
